    Quality Castrogiovanni interview

I love Castrogiovanni and really rate him (see World XV thread), and this article reinforces my opinion. As an aside, did anyone else hear about the Castrogiovanni-Chabal nightclub dust up after a 6N match? Was it 2009?

    Bledisloe IV 2010 Hong Kong

Higginbotham is a maybe for mid week matches at best. Wallaby starter - no way. On the bench - unlikely, but two injuries would make him a maybe. The guy has potential, but realistically, he has not had that much game time of late, and when he was playing he was quite hit and miss. Give him a...

2010 Wallabies End of Year Tour (EOYT)

Got to agree that Mitchell and Turner are the best option, but that doesn't mean we'll see them. Hynes. Mr Hynes. Oh Mr Hynes - when will we see your deceptive pace again? How are you feeling?

2010 Wallabies End of Year Tour (EOYT)

This looks like a likely team, except JO'C will be starting on the wing again (I think he could end up being a viable 12 for the Wallabies).

Lions V Barbarians, Hong Kong, 2013

Hey Hugh - does the phrase "I'll see you Jimmy!" mean anything to you?

    Bledisloe IV 2010 Hong Kong

Anything is possible, well I sure hope so.

    Prop Dilemma

Cruze Ah-Nau Paul Alo-Emile Salesi Manu and um, others.... from what I saw they were big guys with potential, but not yet ready for s15 action. With time, some serious work in the gym as too much of their weight seemed to be fat (trust me, I'm an expert on fat given how much I carry), and a...

2010 Wallabies End of Year Tour (EOYT)

I saw the Munster-Toulon match yesterday.....I guess it will depend on the team they put out, but Munster are not a team to take lightly, especially by a Wallaby B (C- ?) team. I have grave fears that Thomond78 will be making things miserable for Wallaby supporters if we aren't careful...

    Prop Dilemma

usually takes about 25 poor test performances to get moved to the bench.

    Rupeni Caucau v Jonah Lomah

Definitely Lomu for me, but that clip (thanks RR) did remind me of that stupid dog turd haircut that he used to have (and how much I hated it).

NEWSFLASH: Giteau is not getting dropped - list any failings you like, but it still won't happen.

2010 Wallabies End of Year Tour (EOYT)

Putting Reddy!'s astute analysis aside for a moment, I think Robbie Deans has been a gift to this forum: The guy has never really explained his selections (if he has ever explained his selection philosophy, I'm pretty sure nobody understood it anyway) so most of the discussion is assumptions...

    2010 SA Currie Cup Competition

Any news on the Free State and Natal teams for the semis? I'm looking forward to these matches.

    Commonwealth Games Rugby 7s

Yes he did - that's why he left Turner to play 7s instead of XVs for most of the international season!

The Great Umaga for an Aussie S15 spot

He would be a great acquisition for the Aussie s15 teams, but not really a big positive for the Wallabies in terms of developing Australian talent.

World XV (Or Earth's XV, Terran XV, whatever you like)

As I mentioned in my post, the All Blacks are the top team in the world by some distance, but that does not mean each and every player is the best in the world in their position. It is very hard to argue these types of hypothetical selections unless there are rules set down beforehand. As there...

MacQueen turned the Wallabies around in one pre-season

Scarfman - that was surely a reference to the inimitable 'Jake the Muss' was it not? Newter - Don't worry, I have done the comparisons too, and have very similar thoughts to you on the topic. My point is that Deans is currently just below Eddie Jones as regards wins with the Wallabies....not in...

World XV (Or Earth's XV, Terran XV, whatever you like)

New Zealand are top dogs at the moment, so I think to get into the World XV you've got to knock one of them off. It is difficult to decide who to include, and under what circumstances. What if they are injured? What if out of form? On both of those questions I have assumed recovery. 1...

MacQueen turned the Wallabies around in one pre-season

Replacements: 48 - 14 = 34 out of 77 HJ...although the numbers don't tell the whole story. We have to recall the times players were clearly dead on their feet and still not replaced, when things weren't working yet no changes were made. It would not be an issue if the Wallabies were making no...

MacQueen turned the Wallabies around in one pre-season

Ewen McKenzie made the point on Ruggamatrix that big improvements can be achieved quickly if the coach can pin point the big/fundamental issues and improve them. This is true of other fields of endeavour too. Perfection, on the other hand, can takes much longer.
