My all time favourite NZ player both on and off the pitch and has anyone seen how well he is playing in the ITM Cup aka NPC on Fox Sports? He is keen to have one last go at SH pro-rugby and is looking for a side and I would happily have him at my beloved Tahs next year as he would still be quicker than Tom "slow as a wet week" Carter.

gee, doesn't that add some gravitas.

15 Beale
14 Turner
13 Horne
12 Umaga
11 Mitchell
10 Barnes
9 Burgo

Nice...

In saying that, I'd take him over Anthony Fainga'a to play outside Quade up here too.

Noddy do you know if the Tahs have any slots to fill next year and if so if the overseas quota has been filled?

He has been playing well? He is what, 35 now? Id be a little nervous about him keeping up in Super Rugby.

Edit: Force have the marquee spot open too...

unlikely that Tana will come here, more then likely he will go to a New Zealand province and secure himself a "life after footy" deal with the NZRU or some other media outlet...

Either that or he will head to the US and chase a acting gig in Hollywood as the next predator

I wouldn't take away from Anthony in the RWC year. He'll need as much game time and time to gel the combo with Quade if he's going to be a centre option with Giteau and Barnes

He would be a great acquisition for the Aussie s15 teams, but not really a big positive for the Wallabies in terms of developing Australian talent.

Great player and a true gentleman. He would make a good replacement at the Force for Cross.

If he looked towards SA, he would be invaluable amongst a young side like the Lions.

RR, no need to replace Fainga'a at 12 for the Reds. If it isn't broken, don't fix it.

I seem to recall from one of the All Black biographies I read that Tana and Mitchell weren't the best of friends. The Lions don't really need a centre. The need more locks, loose forwards and hookers.

If the rumours are to be believed, the Lions have sourced themselves some rather good props and hookers for the coming season.

Heard a rumour that BDP and his brother are heading there and John Smit too.
But that is just a rumour. I cant remember where I heard it either.
And I cant remember how up to date it is.

Edit: maybe someone like Paarlbok could substantiate / squash this rumour.

I saw that rumour being refuted a while ago. Can't find any official reference to it.

There was a strong rumor that John Smit was going to the Lions but he denied it. Both the brothers have existing contracts I think. Paarl could confirm this.

The real contracting process starts after the CC final. Then it will get clearer.

Personally I think Chiliboy should go to the Lions to be the no 1 hooker somewhere. He needs to play a lot more.

Great player but I don't like the thought of another kiwi taking the spot of a young Aussie leading up to a world cup even if it is Tom Carter.

What about the mentoring someone like Umunga could offer to a young Aussie leading up to the world cup even if it is Tom Carter.

Wasn't Umaga mid-30s when he retired from test rugby in 2005? He is not exactly a young bloke and I doubt he would be up to the rigours of Super rugby after so many years in France. He would be good off the field to teach the blokes about professionalism and bar etiquette but not at his age on the field.

He looks very slow and unfit from the last two Counties games I saw. Canlt see him keep pace in Super Rugby.

Maybe he could do some good work down at the Clan. They get some good talent down there, then lose them.
