    Where to for Super Rugby?

Well maybe if both Unions had supported better domestic set ups, then we both wouldn't have to to completely rely on decade separate sugar hits. So lets kick the can down the road for say another 10,20 years then.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

    Where to for Super Rugby?

6 team domestic competitions followed by champions leagues gives you about 18/19 weeks of rugby with 3 trophies up for grabs, depends what you call stale.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Agree, but gee that's a fine line, combine for a TT with the NZ option all you are selling is 4 games a week that's no increase of what's currently being offered, even with 5 Aus teams its 5 games a total increase of one game, okay your costs are lower. The point about combining packages makes...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Yep, concurrently will be harder to schedule, but at the conclusion of each's domestic comps, if NZ/RA have say 12 teams and possible Japan/SA inclusion say 16 teams, that gives you 4 pools of 4, semi finals/finals. For each franchise a min of 13 games up-to 17 games each. The other being is...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

You would hope that WR (World Rugby) would provide some funding, but who knows what their finances are going to look like after all this. But in regards to a TT, i'm all in favor of champions league/Heineken cup style comps with NZ and whoever, but I will argue that this should be done separately from our...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Of course I agree with this, even a single team added next year is probably a step to far, but the most important thing is making sure the building blocks are in place to enable the RA to have options moving forward. The general consensus is a TT would garner the best broadcast deal, yet there...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Probably not a big difference Sydney is an extra hour, more that it ticks a few more boxes. Ultimately if we are to get to 8 teams as a sustainable domestic base, and you base a pacific team in Sydney, you eventually will have to have a 2nd team in Queensland. My thinking is surely NSW would...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I would argue ultimately Aus will need 8 teams long term for a domestic competition, in that case first NSW would get a 2nd team for all the reasons we've gone over a 100 times, it is the one market in Aus that could support another stand alone team. So why not look at an Island team based in...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Exactly, it is frustrating why we are still looking at trying to cobble up a TT that in the end no one really wants, have we not learnt anything from the last 20 years, even NZR have got to look back at Aotearoa this year, the fans have made a huge statement. Everyone goes on about broadcast...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Quite frankly, with the NZ flare up, talk from the NT head that they consider border closures for the next 12-18 months most likely, pretty much overseas travel put on hold for the next year or two, just look at Vic, even before we start looking at the mess some countries are in overseas, and a...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Worth a listen, and it looks like a bit of an impasse. You can see the NZ fan viewpoint, but I'm more curious re: Sky sports favoring a TT model, I think it would be interesting to look a little more closely at the economics of that viewpoint.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Well with Co-Vid hanging around it may pay to have a plan B, and yes a good domestic competition is far more important, in Australia's case than a slightly better Test win ratio, but I agree with one thing the RA lead the way in incompetence or maybe self interest is a better word.

"just" I think you could write a book on what was wrong with Super Rugby.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I think the RA are very broke, 20 years of Super rugby has ensured that. But I think there also coming to the realization that signing up to a TT comp for 2021 with Co-Vid possibly lurking around every 2nd corner as not quite the wisest move going forward.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

So the solution to that is to condense Australia to two Super teams and introduce a beefed up Pacific team, how does that solve the injury issue.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The thing is if NZ can add a 6th team then in conjunction with Aus running domestic competitions each, then you can broadcast 2 games every Friday/Saturday/Sunday surely that would be an attractive package for a broadcaster.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The quicker they make a decision the better, postponing things could very well lead to the same situation as this year, cobbling together something at the last minute. If we went domestic would not 6 teams be the best option. Maybe with some help from Twiggy a 2nd NSW team (pacific influence)...
