    Where to for Super Rugby?

https://www.smh.com.au/sport/rugby-union/expression-of-no-interest-australia-to-rebuff-new-zealand-competition-invitation-20200723-p55ev4.html Good to see Aus rugby growing a set, but geez its all getting a bit fantasy land, relocating an Argentinean side for the year (that'll come cheap) &...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Yeah, but they don't want 5 Aussie teams, which is the one thing Aus need. A genuine compromise is domestic leagues with cross over championships, they've just possibly grabbed the pacific option.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Yep, but NZ would be the one place that could top up the team with players to make them competitive.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Also means they can move forward with 6 teams next year without Australia if they have to.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

We're gonna have to dis-agree then because I would argue then we have been taking the easy way for the last 20 years. Super Rugby was always the easy way.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Its a good point 54, but why then should we align ourselves in a set-up that pretty much guarantees us 2nd place.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

And to add I think we have to stop with the only the best in the world competition will do, you then spend 90% of the time denigrating your own product. We've just had 20 years of the best domestic quality competition in the world, yet look where it got us, i'm not saying don't strive to be...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Well that's half your problem we need to appeal to more than just rugby people, because if you think for more than a second that superior eyeballs are going to grow the game well good luck.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Dru, I'm completely with you regards a domestic competition for our country. Rivalry, tribalism and as you point out buy in. it is the only way the game will really move forward in this country, but I love watching the Kiwi games they are fantastic. I just don't think we should be tied at the...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

This could be a game changer in many ways with 2-3 Divisions and possibly a growing MLR league in America as well. The point being both NZ & Aus may struggle to hold onto those lower level 2nd tier players if all of a sudden you have 15/25 professional rugby clubs paying competitive wages and...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Agreed, they are relying on Aus weakness, in the SMH this morning just hours after the release of the NZRU preference, Stephen Hoiles (why the f--k his opinion is considered vital 12hrs after NZ vision is released i don't know). He is advocating for the axing of the rebels. This is part of the...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Yep I posted this earlier today. Yes, I am very much in the domestic camp. He can be a right Tosser but A Jones article in the Australian today is not far off the mark in my opinion. "I want Kiwis in OZ watching Aus games and wanting our teams to lose", I hear ya, but what exactly have we...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The Herald understands NZR instead plan to keep the format of the hugely popular all-Kiwi Super Rugby Aotearoa intact, but will invite Rugby Australia to tender to be a part of the competition. NZR would then decide how many, if any, Australian teams it deems viable of playing in the...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I think the option of two would be NSW/QLD allowing you to protect your biggest markets and having two very competitive teams, you go 3 teams then it just becomes your quasi domestic league. The caveat being with two teams can you build genuine content below that level, i'm just not sure you...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Exactly, and once you start getting people like Twiggy involved, they start asking some fundamental questions. So you want me to fund this entity, yet the competitions set-up is specifically designed to suit anther entity. hang on a second??

    Where to for Super Rugby?

In some ways the Force have thrown the old spanner in the works. I think the RA would sign up-to a TT with 4 of the original Super teams, but they can't be seen to leave the Force behind now or just swapping them with the rebels. You could argue for the preferred kiwi option of 2 Aus teams...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Adding a 2nd team in NSW gives you a game a week in that market and allows you to begin growing a rivalry, same as QLD the issue being, starting a domestic comp do we begin with 5-6-8 teams. Just under the current situation money is the issue.
