Agreed, we can't even get past one game before the "its not legit unless we're playing NZ sides" gets trotted out.

Possibly the only real option, but you then have to be careful like Super rugby it quickly becomes entrenched not because it is the best option moving forward, but the self interest of those involved.

I am so over this we must play NZ every single week to improve our rugby, what has the consistent basis of playing every week for the last 20 years against NZ achieved, how has that moved the game forward in Australia. Talk of a domestic competition or GRR involvement doesn't mean we stop...

If we go domestic the competition financially & quality wise will settle at a level that the game here can sustain, which will then hopefully be followed by growth, the pace of that growth will be determined by the quality of its overseers. If we go TT with 5 teams you then need to compete...

We don't have the depth or money to be competitive with 5 teams in a TT it would soon be cricket scores. NSW is your biggest market, you are not competing with the Waratahs, you are enhancing the rugby brand, a game each weekend in Sydney/more newspaper inches/a local derby/greater long term...

There's just no money right now but my thinking is if you can scrape together 6 teams , 5 using the current teams add another in NSW with the eventual aim of an 8 team domestic comp, with 2 teams in your biggest markets, aim for a game each weekend in NSW, i'm just not sure a team could survive...
