    Where to for Super Rugby?

A game in Brisbane every weekend, your biggest market, you secure your home base, you dominate the media. It is a smart move. As for rugby with NSW, well lets hope the Wallabies win.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The only reason there is growth though was because a third entity controlled the Western Force, that growth is in spite of the RA, that growth is in spite of the structure. A TT will just ensure there is no more growth.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The problem is, it isn't just a NZ issue regards the nationalistic approach, the RA have pretty much followed that exact agenda as well. Everything is sacrificed for the National team and every problem is solved by a Wallaby win. The people in charge of the game in the Southern Hemisphere all...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Pretty much agree with this 100%, look at all sort of options with TT and champions league. But not at the expense of our domestic competition.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

If each country can commit to a 6 team domestic competition(even if that takes a year or two), then the long term options of a champions league style competition after each countries domestic content will surely be more lucrative $dollar wise. A TT competition is a short term sugar fix, where...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Success would help the Rebels a lot, it has a greater grassroots base than league, but I would argue that any possible growth in support was tempered by the ridiculous set up of Super rugby, most fair weather fans had turned off well before the end of the first sentence trying to explain Super...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Or how much longer will the Southern tours continue, already speculation France will be understrength. Something has to give sooner or later, what is the appetite up North for them to continue. That would free a month in the schedule, and yes its a revenue boost for us. But how much revenue...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Half, I think in a perfect world this would definitely be an option, I'm just not sure how you'd get there. If only we could turn the clock back, but in saying that, why did we not make those decisions back then. As this blog testifies, there's hardly consensus moving forward. I'm just not...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Yep that's okay to dis agree, we are least discussing options. But to clarify, I never said a 5 team competition is sustainable. The way forward would at least be a commitment to a 6 team domestic competition, with a long term goal of 8 and possibly 10 teams.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Well I do remember playing for Croyden, when I used to live in Melbourne. Sadly my rugby ability never matched my enthusiasm. Then maybe a TT is an option but again just make sure your not having to rip the band of in 10 years, what are the structural steps that need to be put in place that you...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

This comes down to a difference in opinion Rebel Man, I'm not against a TT competition, I originate from Wellington, The hurricanes are my team, lets face it if I grew in Aus i probably wouldn't be commenting on G&G rugby. A TT competition has many things going for it, and could very well be...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

look I agree that 5-6 teams is not ideal, which just highlights the damage 20 years of Super rugby has done to the game here. But why shouldn't Australian rugby have a winner each year, why are they probably wrong. The NRL & AFL every year crown a champion, so lets look at the economic benefit...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

But where does the long term growth come in that structure, you will be subsidizing two Pacific teams with little market potential, you have a maxed out NZ market, and you will be pretty much maxing out the Aus market by committing to a 5 team state structure, and a 22 round comp plus finals...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I'm sorry, I just think that is an absolute crock of shit. How has that benchmark worked out for the game here the last 20 years. Hiding away in our own comp, I mean why do the French or English even bother with there's, because surely there just hiding away from the Kiwis. Fine to advocate...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

TT maybe an option and possibly the best way forward, but surely the possibility of each country committing to a 6 team domestic option is worth a look at. This gives you a genuine domestic competition of 3 months length in each country, 6 games each week for your Media presence. At the end of...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Do you mean the common sense that provided us with Super Rugby for 20 years that left the game here teetering on the brink. TT is an option, but is it in the best long term interests of rugby in this country, we just had 20 years of ignoring our own domestic market with promises of global...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

https://www.smh.com.au/sport/rugby-union/skilful-tough-and-thrilling-rugbys-forced-revamp-has-been-just-super-20210314-p57alp.html Maybe he has a point add one more team to each country, and you have a very workable model to build on.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I just can't get over 15 years of being told one Super team out of the Pacific is unsustainable, yet here we are with TV revenue down how much? and we are couple of months from signing up two teams who will be ready for 2022. What f_____g financial model did SANZAAR work on.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Well I'm gonna say it, first impressions of Stan Rugby are pretty good. Like a first date, she's looking alright.

New Super Rugby AU and NZ rules

God I'm with you on the captain's referral, the last thing Rugby needs is another option to go to the TMO, who will invariably then add another 2/3 mins of review time.
