    Australian Rugby / RA

Maybe rugby will never transcend AFL/NRL, but surely it could be do a lot better, and agreed maintaining a genuine domestic presence will go along way in the future to achieving that.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Well just checked and I was on Stan Premium $20 bucks, so dropped that to basics $10 and signed up for the 30 day free trial, gotta say I think it is pretty good value.

    Australian Rugby / RA

I have just made a post on the Super rugby blog regards this, as it is the domestic grassroots that need lifting in Australia, so if this is true then hopefully he is the right appointment.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

We have needed a National approach for the last 20 years, I'm on the fence when it comes to Marinos being appointed to RA. https://www.smh.com.au/sport/rugby-union/marinos-named-new-rugby-australia-chief-executive-20201223-p56pvz.html But its these sort of statements that worry me." " We...

God the logistics of that would be a nightmare.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Well its a pity that some of those so called business people didn't speak up a bit more during the 20 years of Super rugby, then maybe they could have chucked a bit of cement at the bottom of the whole bloody house of cards, some of those dreamers weren't so far of the mark. The big issue is...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Wasn't it the broadcaster that wanted Super rugby and look where that got rugby in this country. it is NZ the strongest rugby country in the world that chose to condense its teams to 5 essentially Test trial teams, and then looked for a format to suit that set up. The problem with a full TT...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/opinion/300173111/super-aotearoa-new-zealand-rugby-miss-a-trick-as-mori-players-suffer Interesting article, didn't know Moana Pasifika had been awarded a license. Rugby needs genuine domestic content, moving forward the 2021 structure is the right one, a...

What an absolute load of waffle, you wonder whether SANZAAR are capable of doing anything.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Not sure I'm a fan of playing the domestic season alongside of the TT comp it creates to much confusion if that is what's proposed. also with Australia, the game needs some clear air to promote its domestic content. I think we should have what is being implemented (but also think 6 teams each...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

But it doesn't have to be done in isolation, you run the (TT or Champions League) after each countries domestic comp, okay the just keep it at 5 teams if that suits. SA & Japan put simply money. Okay run a 10 team 2 round TT comp, I'm just not sure the money will be there to sustain it long term.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Sorry maybe a poor example but its still the end result, were the ones that locked in state based teams some 20 years ago. My concern is if we solely go down the TT route, how does that then change things because immediately your competing with the interests of the NZ domestic set-up, who will...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

But that was a specific decision made when those teams were essentially considered trial set-ups for the National teams, so you end up with the Waratahs being the only team in your biggest market and all the structural issues that come with that. You can't turn the clock back, but you can...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

But you won't just be playing amongst yourself, every year you will be playing the Crusaders, that is the TT part of the season. and by the way the English premier league AFL & NRL are all doing pretty okay playing themselves every year, they somehow aren't finding it boring.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Both domestic leagues went well this year, allowing unions to finally engage in there own fanbase without this all this rugby conferences taking over the world bullshit. Separate leagues allows for expansion within there own markets, short term goal would be 6 teams each, but then the separate...

https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/super-rugby/300156490/new-zealand-rugby-to-unveil-new-transtasman-super-rugby-competition-in-2021 A good common sense approach moving forward, allows each union to promote its own domestic competition but gives it options moving forward with a TT comp, I for...

Nah! doubt that, depending on the format we'll probably hit a 1000 pages by Xmas

https://www.smh.com.au/sport/rugby-union/powerbrokers-discuss-options-for-trans-tasman-super-rugby-in-2021-20201102-p56auc.html Well then it looks like a TT is a step closer, interesting Fiji & Pasifika side, yet a year ago a single pacific side was not considered feasible.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

It is this argument that i struggle to understand, yes AFL & NRL a $billion organisations, why then would you not try to emulate them, if we don't have the market for it then surely we don't have the market for the current set-up, so we might a well stop trying. I simply cannot see how the game...
