    Bledisloe 1 - Saturday 18 August 2018 - ANZ Stadium, Sydney

Yes. It is early days for Timu but it will not get any easier against the All Blacks. He looked out of place in both Irish tests. He once again looked pretty good in the trial last week but I would suggest that he is not the answer in the back row to compliment the Pooper and that the trial was...

Tui looked very sharp too. Timu was shown to be ineffective against the Irish. Test footy is a different speed.

Possibles vs Probables Friday 3rd August 6.45pm kickoff

He is just a kid in years but he looks so fast and strong amongst that company last night. It will not be long.

Koroibete looks in good nick. We have a lot of options in the back 3. We need our 13 to be very solid defensively. I prefer Hodge to Rona but it could be that both are in the 23 and get time there.

You are right. But as the commentators last night suggested, he will most likely be involved for the RWC.

Hodge was not strong going into contact. We really need a direct runner there outside Foley and Beale. I thought To'omua looked OK considering he just got here. After a few weeks in camp he will be a very capable 10-12 for the Wallabies.......again. Rory Arnold spilled the pill in contact a few...

Possibles vs Probables Friday 3rd August 6.45pm kickoff

Hodge a bit dissapointing at 13. Was not committed with ball in hand and going into contact. Petaia might be a Smokey? Arnold’s ball security was suspect. He lost it twice going into contact. To'omua was great considering he just got off the plane. Angus Cottrel was full of venom and Hardwick...

Running at 13 outside Stewart and Meakes is a little different than running outside Foley and Beale. I'm not sure it will be a good indicator of Hodges attacking game at OC. His defence will be interesting.

Interesting back row. Still without a good lineout option. Should have played Tui at 6.

To be fair Rob Simmons was very good against the Irish. He made dominant tackles in every test and carried the ball well. His experience is valuable amongst a bunch of pretty young locks. This has probably been his best year. The question is where does Arnold fit into the puzzle?

Also looking forward to seeing how Deegan goes. I assume we will have a second string Wallaby side with most of the big names rested?

    The Wallabies Thread

Cheika did not have much choice for the Ireland series as Arnold was not available for the first test. He then made the mistake of going with an unchanged 23 for the second test and the series was taken away. Last year our best locking performance was when Arnold and Simmons started against the...

Is there any reason why you cannot have both locks dominating physically? If they cover all of the bases between them by having high work rates, good ball running/passing skills and are both good at the set piece then there is no reason not to pick them. Both NZ and SA generally have two or all...

    The Wallabies Thread

Coleman and Arnold are both proficient in the set piece and are very physical and have good ball skills. Simmons lacks the physicality at times but is technically strong. He has improved his ball carrying. Rodda is getting better fast. Coleman and Arnold can fill either role in the lock combo...

He was good and if he is in the 23 that’s fine, starting or otherwise. I feel that Arnold, much like Coleman, offers a point of difference and is physically able to boss his opposition. We need more from our pack if we are to be competitive with the ABs.

    The Wallabies Thread

I would start Coleman and Arnold with Simmons on the bench at this stage. There needs to be balance and a good amount of experience, consistency and set piece knowledge in a test second row. Rodda is young and enthusiastic, much like Phillip and Enever. All excellent prospects Arnold really...

He should not even be on the list of locks. Number 6s yes.

    The Wallabies Thread

There’s a long line at lock. Coleman and a Rodda went well against the Irish as did Simmons. Rory Arnold should be knocking on the door as would Philip you would think.

    The Wallabies Thread

I don't think Rona offers much and will really struggle defensively. Hodge has all the right attributes to make a very good 13 and always takes good options. I would like to see him given some time to make the position his own. Izzy at 13 could put the ABs off a bit? Not bad since they feel...

Cheika might take a chance on Petaia? He has the numbers. Rona is just there but not really contributing a lot.
