    Shute Shield 2013

I guess the other option is mergers eg Parramatta and Penrith, Gordon and Norths, Easts and Randwick, Manly and Warringah.

    Shute Shield 2013

I notice in this week's Rugby News that Nick F-J has dropped a strong hint about a 10 team Shute Shield in the future. Unfortunately we would have to assume that Penrith will be one of the casualties if this happens, but which other team would go???

The Wicks strategy is not about success in 2013, but the playoffs are still the pass mark for this year. As suggested, there's clearly a gap between Eastwood, Uni, Manly and Souths (once the S15 players return) and the rest. I'm not an advocate of the top 8 being in the playoffs as in any given...

Let's not forget he's playing #10 in Randwick first grade and he's still only 18 years old!

Further to the above, 2nds are on the bottom field at Latham with the other 2 grades on the top field.

Mitchell is on the wing in 1sts with Ethan Ford dropping back to seconds. All lower grades are at Latham: 4th grade: 10am 3rd grade: 11:15am 2nd grade: 12:40pm Colts are at Epping Boys High at normal starting times

Waratah website has now given it to Kotoni Ale.

    Shute Shield 2013

Peter, I wondered the same thing. I'm thought the Wests v Uni match was probably the pick of the round and probably Uni v Easts this coming weekend. I'm also puzzled as to why the Wicks have two matches in a row and this was known 3 weeks ago. I know a few years ago the ABC announced they were...

    Shute Shield 2013

Yep, Manly had the game plan for the conditions and Milroy and the forwards executed it to perfection.

MACCA, I agree about the initiative, but the strip could have been better (see above post). Good questions re the ground. If it rains all week (as predicted) I can't see the council letting them use it.

I think the ladies must have been in the club across the road, watching the game on the big screen. I thought the strip used against Uni a few years ago (also partly pink) was a much better look.

    Shute Shield 2013

Gibbo, it's really interesting to see most clubs giving young guys a go in first grade and by and large they are performing above expectations. This is great for rugby but a real challenge to the Waratah management. They can only sign so many and the rest will be lost to the other S15 teams. It...

    MANLY 2013

Dave, I see the waratahs website has awarded the try to Milroy but the ABC (quoting the TMO) said it was the player who followed up and dived on the ball after it was pulled loose by Horwitz. What's the word in the Manly camp?

Morton. ditto re Wallabies in camp for 3 weeks before the Lions test!

The pink uniforms were ghastly. I'm not sure how any team could take themselves seriously in those outfits. The first thing I would have done at half time was change back to the traditional green strip. I hope they raised heaps at the auction but I couldn't find anyone who wanted to buy one of...

    Shute Shield 2013

I agree Pete, I thought Horwitz was the Wicks best player and handled the conditions and the scoreline with maturity beyond his years. I don't believe he made any serious mistakes and the quality of his passing in the conditions was amazing. His effort to almost stop Milroy from scoring also...

    Shute Shield 2013

Interesting prediction Knuckles! For the record, the Wicks are conceding 25 points per game v the best (Eastwood) with 19 so the defence has been reasonable. Wicks attack is second only to Eastwood (ie 42 v 33). Comparing Wicks v Manly: For = 333 (Wicks) v 301 (Manly) Agst = both 249 But these...

    Shute Shield 2013

I suspect this is why Junior Tavalii has been brought into the pack and Connor moved to the centres ie to add some bulk. Apart from the fact that Junior had a big game last weekend in 2nds.
