    S14 Game day 22's 2010

McLinden had a bulging disc in his neck and retired on the back of medical advice. His cool head and experience as a preofessional sportsman will be missed by the Reds, that's for sure. That Tah's team looks strong, particularly in the forwards.

    QLD Reds 2010

Fair call given his 2009 year. Made his Reds debut,Starred for the Aussie 7's, was first choice half for the OZ 20's, and then got the Wallaby tour call up. You would have to think there was interest in him from the other franchises if the Reds don't act quickly.

    Isn't Anesi a fullback?

    S14 Game day 22's 2010

Davies does have exceptional speed but he is also quite a safe player, and was principally a fullback in his junior days. I don't know what his kicking game is like though. I like Ant Fainga'a as well. He is an excellent defender and his club combo with Cooper might be worth something. Look for...

Read an article where it was recently confirmed that he can never play again. Poor bloke.

That might be close Noddy. I'm thinking Davies at the back, Hynes to wing and Morahan on the bench. In any case I think we will see a couple of combinations during the trials with a few guys trialled at fullback. Maybe even Lucas and Cooper, just to see what options exist?

    S14 Game day 22's 2010

Just looking at the Tah's thread and seeing attempts at naming a game day squad. I'd be interested to see what Punters put up as possible starting sides for all the franchises. NTA's Tah's selection is a good starting point (Agree with WJ though, Beale has to be starting): In any case, my...

How good or bad was the EOYT?

Me too. A perfect capture of what I think a lot of people have been trying to articulate.

    Team of the Spring Tour

Haven't seen enough of the other games played but there does look to be a little bit of gold bias in some of the selections. Would have been interesting to see how people selected if a team was picked before the Wales game? On the McCaw v. Pocock argument, there's no doubt in my mind that...

G&GR Wallaby of the Year: OZ vs Wales

Righto, time to get off the fence then. 3. Giteau 2. Robinson 1. Genia Pocock and Smith were superb, but cant bring myself to award points to players who were only on the field for half the game, when several others played well for 80 minutes. Each was the standout for the forty minutes he...

How good or bad was the EOYT?

The tour won't go down as a roaring success because of the loss to Scotland and the fact that the Irish snatched a last minute draw, but there were a number of good stories. - The front row was the success story of the tour. - Will Genia established himself as a halfback of real promise. -...

    Wallabies v Wales

Agree with most of your comments there Chief. The front row and opensides were tremendous! Hynes is always solid but I don't know if he is a 13. I reckon he and Digby should be starting wingers if they can find another outside centre option. Great stuff. Can't really bag the play of a team who...

G&GR Wallaby of the Year: OZ vs Wales

Plenty of good players today. 3. Giteau - His best game for a long while 2. Openside (Pocock and Smith) 1. Genia - Magic under the high ball for such a vertically challenged bloke.

    best schoolboy side

Comparisons are a dangerous thing, but hell it's a forum so pointless sitting on the fence. Personally, I think the 2003 Churchie team was brilliant, but a drawn premiership (controversial circumstances) blunts their credentials. No doubt this years State High team was special, as evidenced by...

    Wobbs v Cardiff

Terrible news for Matt To'omua. A number of these youngsters have faced setbacks, and if he responds like Luke Morahan, then it will be all good. Setbacks help develop perspective. Happy to hear that Kurtley Beale did well in the unfamiliar wing role. Obviously rose to the challenge given him...

    Wobbs v Cardiff

I think he's 20, soon to be 21 but fair point Groucho. These young kids are living the dream and even if they are dubious selections it's hardly their fault. Hope he has a cracker.

    QLD Reds 2010

I see the Reds Academy have 5 teenagers, including Eddie Quirk, in the 18 man OZ Sevens squad. Quirk and Shipperley from 08 schoolboys and Situatia, Gill and Felsman from 09.

    QLD Reds 2010

Very big lad, good pace for a backrower and tons of agression. Could be a surprise selection for the Reds in 2010 if his development keeps going like it has. Looked very at home in Brisbane Premier grade this year. I think the big issue for the Reds next year is not which players from the main...

G&GR Wallaby of the Year: OZ vs Scotland

I don't disagree RW, it was a basic mistake and one that QC (Quade Cooper) will probably regret, but more importantly, learn from. He's not the first person to make a bad judgement call, and won't be the last. Can't blame him for the loss though, there were two other tries that went begging from far more...

G&GR Wallaby of the Year: OZ vs Scotland

That's the kind of player he is. If it comes off he's a hero, if not he's a villain. At least he creates opportunity. Split second to make a decision and he made the wrong one, shit happens...
