    QLD Reds 2010

Some observations from yesterday's curtain raiser.... Scoreline was 40 something to 5. Gee it was hot, I really did pity the poor players. No more afternoon starts in Brissy at this time of year please officials! I always feel a pity for the select sides that are put together at the last...

Reds v Tahs : Opening game of the season

I've only got one eye Nick...it must have been shut during that passage of play. ;)

Reds v Tahs : Opening game of the season

Too late in the evening (or even early in the morning) to read all the comments. Have to say I am gutted! The best side on the paddock lost. Apart from the scrum, the Tahs were well and truly outenthused and outplayed. It will sound like sour grapes but the forward pass for the Tah's first try...

Lunching elsewhere then to Suncorp for the curtain raiser at 4.30. What's the after game venue?

Reds v Tahs : Opening game of the season

Only since you asked Nod. The word is skerrick. I googled skerrit : "In the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game, Skerrit is the deity worshipped by the centaur race". Yeah, I didn't think Price was overly impressive either. The year out of rugby playing Aussie Rules must have cruelled him...

    Brumby Runners v Junior Waratahs

What has happened to Samisoni Latinipulu? I thought for sure that he would be in the Junior Tahs. Interesting that both Junior Tah's halfbacks are Qld boys..... Who is Luke Evans for the Runners?

Reds v Tahs : Opening game of the season

Would like to have seen Blair Connor at 13. He is an excellent outside centre at club level. I'm also keen to see how Butler and Morahan go if they get a run.

Reds v Tahs : Opening game of the season

Having watched two of the trial games, and the other on live feed, I am prepared to say that Rod Davies has been the best winger on show, and if selection is being based on form then he deserves his spot. As does Andrew Shaw deserve his bench spot. Morahan has tremendous potential and will get...

    Player predictions super 14 2010

I'm sure there is a minimum age reqirement. That is why O'Connor, To'omua and a few others weren't selected two years ago. Stupid rule really..

    2010 Sevens

Mods - could we please have an IRB icon? I know there is a Sevens thread somewhere but I can't find it. Fiji has taken out the Wellington Sevens, beating Samoa in the final. Australia beat South Africa in the Plate final. That's not a bad result.

    Player predictions super 14 2010

And Carter....? :) My predictions : Matt To'omua to fully announce his credentials as a top class player. Rob Horne to do the same, and answer the "who will be 13"? question. TPN to establish himself as the clearcut No.1 hooker in OZ. and hopes: Reds to finish in the Top 8.

    Pretorius gone

I agree with you Lee. Just speculating as to what the Force hierachy might be thinking. As with the Reds and their 15 dilemma, the Force may well just adopt the wait and see approach. Bartholomeuz may well be the answer, if Rabbit is 12. Solid go to guy at 10, with the boy genius at 12 might...

    Re:Barnes for Vice-Captain?

Good idea for a new thread. Not sure who my favourite is but George Smith would have to be up there. As for the leadership question, I thought Barnes should have been the Reds captain last year, ahead of Horwill. Gives 100% on the field, great defender, good vision, and commands the respect of...

Final Trial - Reds v. Force

Chief, you're obviously a massive Quirk fan but had you not realised that he is in the Aussie Sevens squad? And he would be there with the blessing of the Reds. He is still a teenager and will have ample opportunity to prove his worth. Morahan and Kingi are prime examples of what a stint in 7's...

The Orc has spoken: Saffas are dirty cheating cvnts!

I contemplated that for the reasons you give, and my son played soccer until he was 13. Then he went to a rugby playing school...game over! And I've enjoyed watching him run around since.

Final Trial - Reds v. Force

Wins have been as scarce as rocking horse shit in the past few years for Reds supporters so some of us might have got a little over exuberant after back to back trial wins. Actually it wasn't so much the final scoreboard result that got me excited but how the team applied themselves in achieving...
