The Brumby Runners take on the Junior Waratahs this Saturday afternoon at Viking Park from 3pm.

Why do people persist playing this man at 10? He is a center through and through.
I am really looking forward to watching the Rebels develop him.

Freier hasn't played in any trial; so he must be hurt. I forgot to ask the Tahs official I spoke to last week about Freier. At least he was right about Horne and Caldwell playing this coming weekend, albeit for different teams - so he would have had the mail on "Hass".

I don't get it. You mean that there's a lot of Islander names? Well the Kiwis have a lot in their teams too. As for South African teams - well what families in their right minds would move there as Islanders do to Oz and NZ? Besides, a lot of the boys with Islander names were born here.

The latest census told us that 25% of Aussies were born overseas. They like to come to live here. Why wouldn't they? So it would be extraordinary if our rugby teams did not reflect a similar percentage.

Am I being too precious to an offhand remark? Probably - as you were then.

10. Esekia - yep he is a midfielder. Anybody know if flyhalf Rob Coleman was injured last Thursday night?

Brumby Jack

Are you going to the game?

Let us know how Colby F and Hooper go at 6 and 7 sharing the openside role by playing on the LH and RH side of the scrum. Also a report on Jessie Mogg at fullback.

For the Tahs please look at 5. Roodt, 7. Alcock (supposed to succeed Waugh), 8. McCaffrey, 11. Betham, 13. Horne, 14. Nadolo and 15. D'Arcy.

He played 10 for Victoria U20 state last year but 13 and 12 for U18 Aussie Schoolboys.
He must be in that little window that meant he was eligible for both.

LG,

I'll do my best to get out there. It's a long way to Viking Park, a food and water stop on the way is essential!

Spot the Aussie :lmao:

By Aussie I assume he means white Anglo-Saxon or Celt. Sixty-five years of creating a multicultural society and some of them still don't get it.

Sorry LG, no offence intended!! Played all of my rugby with people from many nationalities and, being a bush player, it's these blokes that kept rugby alive in a lot cases in a League stronghold. We as Union boys were collectively tainted!! And being a Reds fan people from Islander background are the ones keeping us going now (albeit slowly!!) At work at least a good third of the tradesmen are Sth Africans, which come S14 and Tests is a great time for all concerned (them mainly of late!). These are the sort of things we all banter with at work etc with no malice, we are all just rugby brothers and racism etc isn't an issue - I guess we are just lucky. Apologies again LG.

Bloody northsider! :p

I'm hoping to get there and will try to post a report. But I will have 2 nippers with me, so it might be patchy... I got to see the trial game in very small bursts.

There's a water trough for horses around Phillip somewhere. I'll make sure there's a bale of hay nearby. Failing that, trot along to Tuggeranong where'll they be an extra chaff bag waiting for you.

What has happened to Samisoni Latinipulu? I thought for sure that he would be in the Junior Tahs.

Interesting that both Junior Tah's halfbacks are Qld boys.....

Who is Luke Evans for the Runners?

Whoever gets there, please have a very good look at Rob Horne. The Tahs and Wallabies need him desperately.

Second Row,

Would you mind watching Rodney Esekia (the 10) specifically?
He is of particular interest to me as he is a future Rebels prospect and I've seen him play. Seeing as I'm Victorian born and bred that is rare, but becoming less so.

The Tahs have picked Alcock, a no.8 at the Gordon club (when he is in 1st Grade which is not always) to be the successor to Waugh and seeing how he goes. He's got a S14 rookie contract. Sam had an amateur JW gig last year, was the starting no.7 for Norths, and got in the Oz U/20 team.

I expected Sam to get a professional Academy contract in 2010 at least, but he's been dumped from the stable.

The scrummies? Yeah, Bredenhann was already in the JW amateurs last year and is repeating a year. McKibbin has taken over Jeremy Sua's pro JW's spot which is a shame as I think the Qlder will eventually move down to Melbourne.

Luke Evans - maybe he's the same Luke Evans who played for the Oz Schools 1st XV with Beale, Cooper and Davies in 2006. But I was talking to his dad at the 2008 Schools tournament (brother Ben was playing in it) and IIRR Mr Evans said that Luke was going to try his luck in Wales when he left school.
