    George Smith to retire!!!

I agree Biffo. Great footballer, great man. Hope he rips it up in his last S14 season.

    Pretorius gone

Maybe they have O'Connor as their long term 10 prospect? He and Hunt played the 10-12 combo at Nudgee College together, so they could be interchangeable as well.

Final Trial - Reds v. Force

He has his detractors, and his debut season last year didn't help, but I understand Rod Davies had made great strides in his development and I will be interested to hear reports on how he goes in tonight's game.

    Brumbies v Waratahs Trial

Enjoyed the report Lee...thanks. Good on you Pete Betham, by all reports, particularly against the Franchise that dumped you. Didn't realise he had that much pace though.

The Orc has spoken: Saffas are dirty cheating cvnts!

I like this post a lot, well written Blue! There are two big misconceptions going around at the moment: 1. Everyone outside of Australia don't care about the rules and its up to Australia to create the impetus for change. Not true. There is enough awareness but the problem is it is going to...

Me too. Was McCaffrey in the same NSW schools team as McDuling?

Reds v Tahs : Opening game of the season

Vintage Reds lunch on Friday, but Caxton St on Saturday sounds like a plan.

Final Trial - Reds v. Force

I will be interested to see how Preocanin goes. He looked the goods for Easts in 2008 but injuries cruelled him last year.

Final Trial - Reds v. Force

Is Gill that small? Taller than Pocock and Waugh and should add significantly to his 85kg in the Academy. Will keep an eye out for him on Saturday night. As for Chambers and Tomiki...In the former's case, as many minutes of game time as possible for this guy, and against a 'lesser' opposition...

Adam Freier: The beauty of our game is in the contest

Agreed NTA. I would add that if 'officialdom' had got interpretation right in the first place then nothing would have needed to be tweaked.

Reds v Tahs : Opening game of the season

    So where will everyone be?

    Brumbies v Waratahs Trial

So why Uni rather than the Tah's Academy in the curtain raiser? As for the main game.... Smith is an interesting choice. Very much the robust, no frills but 'safe as houses'winger. Love to see him up against Nadolo, will really test the big fella out. As for NSW halfbacks, Burgess has the gig...

    QLD Reds 2010

Where did they get the team title "Australian Barbarians" from? Very 'Brisbane club' this team, but at least the Academy guys are playing matches.

Final Trial - Reds v. Force

I'm fairly certain he spent all of last year in Brisbane, so he may have been out of the Brumbies setup for a while. Also understand that he was training off-season in the Wider Reds set up.

    Digby Ioane in 2010

Why is Morgan T dismissed so readily? He is only 26 or 27, has played for the Wallabies, and is looking fitter than he ever has before.

Adam Freier: The beauty of our game is in the contest

Re: awesome article by adam frier: The beauty of our game is in the contest Yes it was a great read.

    Digby Ioane in 2010

Largely based on potential, but if he is the No.1 choice for the Tahs, and I have nominated AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) as fullback and Digby at wing, and I don't rate Cross as highly, then it's not that fanciful. I didn't consider the 'crock' factor as Sheperd was in the other list.

    Waratahs 2010

Gee, I hope it wasn't a full strength Fiji side..Nadolo has obvious potential purely due to his size and speed, but he didn't do too much against Qld the previous week. A better indication will be how he goes against the Brumbies this Thursday..hope he gets a run.

Final Trial - Reds v. Force

Just to keep things tidy I will start a separate thread. Based on what I have seen in the last few games, and injuries notwithstanding, here is the Reds side I would like to see on the paddock for the final trial: 15. Hynes 14. Morahan 13. Turinui. 12. Fainga'a 11. Ioane 10. Cooper 9. Genia 8...
