Link will be very quick to determine who he wants to keep next year. The likes of Taylor, Higgers, Houston, Tasi, Simmons etc will all be under pressure to perform very well very early.

Evans must love working with a frontrower who has a pony tail.

Loving how fit and exhausted they look. Hope they have enough common sense to back off at the start of the season, like Whispers said.

Could someone finally keep Houston fit for the season? Maybe we should start a Houston watch...

by the way, who is that incredibly skinny guy on the right next to Higgers?

That guy on the right of Higgers I believe is Aaron Chapman. Plays at University, Flanker. Not sure why he's in the academy tbh.

Also heard that Houston isn't playing for Norths this season, instead is making his way to Sunnybank.

Thanks for the welcome.

Don't think there's a relation. If there is, would explain why he's in the academy though.

QLD sure are healthy on backrow stocks:
Luafutu, Taylor, Houston, Higginbotham, Shaw, Quirk, Gill, Schatz, Chapman, Tuapou. Melbourne may open up a few opportunities for these blokes.

cheers Boomy. Welcome and keep on posting.
Is this Chapman, Mitchell's little bro?

Not so.
Aaron Chapman is ex TSS same vintage (2007) as Slipper, Moraghan, Lance and co.

Welcome Boomy.

Gee, he looks small for a S14 level flanker. Looks like the build of a 7s winger!

Yup. The quicker he get spat out the better. Don't need another hanger-on in the QLD system...although, standing next to Higgers, who isn't the smallest bloke in the world isn't doing him any favours.

He sat out last year with a knee injury. Was a star for TSS in 2007. Also size isn't everything although I saw him down at a Uni game this year and he wasn't looking that small. I think he is someone worth putting the time in with. Guess we will see how he goes next year.

I see the Reds Academy have 5 teenagers, including Eddie Quirk, in the 18 man OZ Sevens squad. Quirk and Shipperley from 08 schoolboys and Situatia, Gill and Felsman from 09.

A poster over at Planet Rugby said that Sione Faumuina (former NRL player) was training with the Reds yesterday, and that he will be playing for Norths next year.

He was released by the New Zealand Warriors in August 2006 for repeated involvement in "cases of serious misconduct", related to alcohol.[2]

Sione Faumuina signed a contract to play for Harlequins Rugby League, starting from the 2007 season, a contract that Quins RL have agreed to tear up.

He signed with the North Queensland Cowboys and has played with them since 2007.

Sione was relesed by mutual consent from Castleford at the back end of the 2009 season.

awesome.

That's a bit unkind thereBoomy - There is absolutely no way that Aaron Chapman is a hanger on - he more than pulls his weight and should be a very good performer.
Might I suggest you stand next to him - he ain't what you would call small - the pic does him no favours.

Don't get too excited about Sione Faumuina. He was at Reds training only because him and his agent had a meeting with Paul Carrozza on the day. He was just watching the training. No plans for him apparently. The bit about Norths is true.

noticed Charlie Fetoia has been dropped from the Reds website, i know he was out injured for all of 2010, im just guessing that the Reds have had him removed from the playing list so they can sign someone in his spot
