    Melbourne Rebels 2011

Re: Rebels deadline ends, update here on what you hear. Email from Melbourne Rebels mailing list. Looks like things will start ramping up soon in terms of memberships, uniforms, etc. Also sounds like there might be some new signings anounced soon.

mungos want to ban converts from playing again (yeeeess, gooood, goooogd)

And what about all the junior rugby players who signed NRL contracts. Better make sure that no rugby player ever plays league. "All that money, time and effort by coaches, the ladies in the canteen, the people who wash the jerseys." Dickhead.

    FOLAU?

My thoughts on it are that he prefers a move back to the storm and is going to wait to see what happens there vis a vis an opening before he comits to something else. An AFL move won't give him the anonimity (sp) he seeks. Likely move to Rebels. Well thats my 2c.

    FOLAU?

Just heard a clip of Harold Mitchell giving a very half-hearted denial that Folau has been signed. "I have become very good at denying the seemingly obvious" was my favourite quote.

Free to air Super rugby is back!

If it goes anything like the UK, the 15 or whatever free to air will be useless, and the sport you want to watch will all be on Foxtel. The anti-siphoning legislation will determine that in the end.

Melbourne Storm / Rebels / Waldrom

Re: Melbourne Storm stripped of 2007 + 2009 premierships Don't know who's police will be investigating, but you wouldn't be doing a deal down here. All of a sudden your happily serving 35 years in the safest area of maximum security, and then... head smacked in by your mate with a set of...

Melbourne Storm / Rebels / Waldrom

Re: Melbourne Storm stripped of 2007 + 2009 premierships The breach of contract with the NRL would surely have been settled with the $.5m fine. Can't see that being paid without a release being signed. As I read it the criminal/civil element is between the Storm and Waldron. Did Waldron obtain...

Melbourne Storm / Rebels / Waldrom

Re: Melbourne Storm stripped of 2007 + 2009 premierships Channel 9 News in Melbourne was reporting that Waldron was meeting with Harold Mitchell about an hour ago. The media had tried to contact Waldron by SMS, and the message back was basically C'mon mate, no way I'm talking about this. I...

    Conversation about IP addresses

Can the mods do an IP search like on other forums I frequent? Dont want Wazimba to go, but would love to know who is really behind that handle. I will admit that he understands the need for moderation in posting crazy threads.

Point me in the direction of the S15 struture?

I read an article somewhere the other day (can't remember where), that they are likely to base it alphabetically for the first year, and then rotate it from there on in. It would list the teams alphabetically by there popular names (ie Reds, not Queensand) for each conference. Then you wouldn't...

    8 point tries?

Why not have penalties drop kicked and the time limit reduced to 30 seconds because there is no messing around placing tees, removing your scrum cap, pulling up your socks, lining up your run-up, adopting strange poses, etc. Make the place kick exclusively for conversions.

    Melbourne's Rectangular Stadium

Its the way the soccer fans like it. As for the greenfield question from the OP, it is being built where the old Olympic Park 2 stadium was before they demoed it to construct the Burnley Tunnel.

Footscray Rugby Club and Victorian Rugby in general.

Out of interest, who are Melbourne Unicorns - I assume Melbourne RUFC still playing out of Faulkner Park. Actually surprised that Powerhouse are now big in the west. We didn't have a specific base when I played there as we were nicely located on Albert Park Lake, with the players skating on...

Re: Rebels deadline ends, update here on what you hear. Wiki'ed it - was footy operations manager at both Essendon and Melbourne. My knowldege of AFL clubs is that footy operations are in charge of coaching, players, fitness, etc - basically everything to do with on ground performance...

Footscray Rugby Club and Victorian Rugby in general.

I remember a few times back in the day (97 in this case), when clubs couldn't field a Colts side. One week we had to lend a fair few players (7) to Quins, but it was a Sunday, which didn't work with a fair few of their guys religious beliefs. Powerhouse Colts actually folded mid-season that year...

Re: Rebels deadline ends, update here on what you hear. Another AFL guy. Corcoran was at Melbourne and Essendon, before Athletics Australia. He actually came and spoke at my high school once and was impressive, but that was 12 years ago, while he was still with Melbourne, and I can't remember...

    Melbourne Rebels 2011

Re: Rebels deadline ends, update here on what you hear. That sort of travel gets old quick. Also cutter - yeah maybe as an international, but was good enough (in the words of an old coach, meaning acceptable) as a super rugby player, especially if he is a bench level lock.

Re: Rebels deadline ends, update here on what you hear. Glad to hear that. That makes 1 of our 9 (i think) captains that Waldron/MacQueen have been talking about. Mortlock will likely be the next one. Wonder who the other seven will be. Obviously Rocky next (am yet to discover a sarcasm...

    Melbourne Rebels 2011

Re: Rebels deadline ends, update here on what you hear. This is all starting to worry me. Being a Melburnian, I know that to penetrate the sporting market, that success is important. Victory had huge latent support coming in, and success has seen them become the only viable team in the A...
