    How hard is the Tri-Nations?

I would say that an AFL player running 20odd kms a game is probably a better pure athelete than a prop. As for comparing football competitions, I find it difficult to call one harder than another. Is it easier to maintain consistency over 38 games in the EPL, than six test matches in the Tri...

    Craig Wing, what's the deal?

Apparently he's on $700k a year in Japan so we can't afford him. I would rate his media profile down here as roughly equivalent to Mike Hammond, star of the Foxtel help channel. If you are looking for someone with media profile you either have to poach from the Storm's 'Big 4' or the AFL. Do...

    Commonwealth Games Rugby 7s

Damn - I was hoping it was a selection incentive scheme - make the side or walk home/get fed to the crocs. That would have seen some tough competition for positions.

The rugby world cup; ranking versus other events

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sports_attendance_figures More stats than you can poke a stick at. Just looked at it a bit more - apparently the Six Nations has the highest average attendance for a tournament.

    Craig Wing, what's the deal?

He doesn't really have much of a media presence down here, and he is pushing 31 as well. Don't really see him being a good or worthwhile fit for the Rebels.

    Decent All Black skills

Weepu's seemed plausible. I'm suss on the kick due to the camera cutting away.Actually, the more I watch it extremely suss on the kick - he only seems to swing his leg about half as hard on the third one as the previous two. Most likely just chips it up and down while the camera zooms in to take...

    Shute Shield 2010

I'll be up in Sydney over the Shute Shield Grand Final weekend and I'm thinking about heading down to watch the game. Turns out my sister who I'm staying with seems to live about 1km from Concord Oval, so it would be rude not to really. Will it be a matter of rolling up on the day and getting...

    Wallaby Inside Backs Headgear Conspiracy

Not sure, but pretty sure Kweechee played in the top order for the NSW Sheffield Shield side in the 90s.

    Melbourne Rebels 2011

The Rebels are a privately owned club, with the majority of the money coming from Harold Mitchell and other board members. There is also some ARU funding via TV rights and the like, and will be sponsorship dollars and gate takings like the other franchises. Not really any different to the model...

    Wallaby Inside Backs Headgear Conspiracy

Was there some sort of controversy about this with South Africa years ago? My memory is a bit hazy on it and it may have been to do with cricket.

IRB Fine ARU for Haka Disrespect

From that Wiki article Gogguy posted they say it was 89. Seems as though Kiwi haircuts being stuck in a time warp is not a new thing.

    2011 Super 15 Draw

Too much Rugby??? More high quality games. Generally more games every week. What's not to like (apart from the logo)?

    Argentina in SANZAR

Except that they were both from Melbourne originally. Judd went to Caulfield Grammar and grew up supporting Melbourne before he came home. Malthouse played for St Kilda and Richmond, and then coached Footscray before he went west. I think tribalism is different in what is essentially a one...

    2011 Super 15 Draw

Interesting to see that every Rebels home game is on a Friday night. Probably not a bad move trying to establish that, especially given most Friday night AFL matches are over the other side of the city at Etihad. I think it will give some good scope to get some decent marketing push behind it as...

    Ideas for Australian Rugby Union

I'm not a Sydneysider, but surely both codes are currently stronger than Aussie Rules in Sydney, and all other rugby code dominated markets? Also a minor, pedantic gripe. The sport is called Australian Rules, not AFL. Its like referring to all Rugby as Super 15 and all League as NRL.

    Ideas for Australian Rugby Union

ChargerWA - you're post just gave me an idea. Why don't we introduce a Ranfurlie Shield type of trophy that the 5 Australian Super 15 teams play off for. Something to add a bit more spice to some of the non-traditional rivalries and generate a few more column inches in the press.

    Ideas for Australian Rugby Union

Stone Cold Steve Moore - love it. Although I think you mean WWE - unless you are suggesting we get some bad arse pandas playing for us. Now that would be entertainment. I think an effective junior program like the AFL do with Auskick is essential. The AFL have 100,000 kiddies between 5 and 12...

    Melbourne Rebels 2011

What is it about rugby (or soon to be rugby) players driving around unlicensed this year. Especially if the name Cooper appears somewhere in their name. Also, on a side note, is there any chance of having the Rebels logo updated?

    Melbourne Rebels 2011

Just googled this guy and it seems in the last two years he has sought to be released from his Penrith contract, signed a new deal and pledged his lifelong devotion to the club, and is now shopping around in Rugby. No thanks.
