Should the Australian Rugby Championship come back.

I find it interesting how the debate in this thread seems to be coming back around to the model that the AFL or NRL have used to grow their competitions. Rugby doesn't have the latent support around the country that soccer has had, so unless there is some serious backing by a broadcaster or some...

Should the Australian Rugby Championship come back.

The ARU is sitting on a net position of about $15m in assets etc at the moment. They ran a deficit last year due to member union allocations, and these allocations will increase due to the Rebels getting $3m/year out of the broadcast rights, and being entitled to loans of $1.3m a year for the...

Melbourne deserves a truly multipurpose stadium

I can't see it happening. Between AAMI Park and Etihad, we are more than covered for rectangular fields, even if Etihad isn't ideal. Also can't see Brumby lasting long enough to get E-Gate up and running. I always thought that E-Gate was planned as a smaller 30,000-ish size stadium predominately...

Should the Australian Rugby Championship come back.

I think a concept similar to TOCC's above has some merit. Maybe the balance could be altered a bit though, allowing a promotion relegation from the Sydney and Brisbane premierships. This would mean that the clubs wouldn't have to lose their identity, and theoretically all have the same chance to...

Gits and Drew getting ready to face the Boks...by playing 3rd div subbies.

I don't know what its like in third grade sub-districts in NSW, but if its anything like third grade was in Victoria when I was playing they would be mad to let them play. What are the chances of some bloke looking to make a bit of a hero of himself by sniping a Wallaby and taking him out?

    Quade Cooper going to NRL?

They can't afford him is my first thought. Also wonder would he be eligible to play league for NZ?

    Yellow / Red Card Theory

I'm with cyclopath on this one. The only one that would have been hard to pick up of the three was the Mitchell one. Heaslip's was blatantly obvious, and a spear tackle is normally picked up by the ref, not a touch judge.

    Wallabies team for next week?

I floated it earlier, but I would put JOC (James O'Connor) to 10, Barnes to bench, and Nena and Pasadena's chieft marketer, sorry Matt Giteau, at 12. Maybe we just bring Buddy Franklin in for a game. Can't kick, but he is good with the fend and likes to run. Maybe he could replace JOC (James O'Connor) on the wing. Then Buddy...

Wallabies v All Blacks Christchurch Sat 7 August, 2010

And in case your in Melbourne without Fox, you can watch from 5pm: Delish (apparently starring a Master Chef finalist from last year), Coxy's Big Break, Channel 7 News, Grease, The Living Daylights followed by Shanghai nights, and finally get the replay at 2.05am. Can't say we aren't spoiled...

    Wallabies team for next week?

JOC (James O'Connor) did fairly well at 5/8 during the year when he played there. What about something like: 10: JOC (James O'Connor) 11: Mitchell 12: Gits 13: A Fainga'a 14: Shepherd 15: AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)
