Stump up for Foxtel ya stingy, tight bastards (or get ya parents to do it) and then there's no issues!
Naah mate. I can't wait until fox's monopoly on Rugby is ended and I can extend the finger to them and their shit coverage.

Shit coverage? Every game of the competition live. Sure the commentators are rubbish but you cant knock their coverage.

Super 14 you're right. It's top notch. But lets be frank, super 14 isn't all their is to Rugby. Why don't fox have a Rugby channel like our neighbours. Why do we miss out on proper shute shield, Hein cup, currie cup, air nz cup coverage? why do we have to pay extra for 6 nations coverage? granted it could be worse but it could be alot better IMO

Because there isnt the demand. It is a pity but I cant blame them. If there was a market One HD would step in but there just isnt for those competitions you mentioned.

FTA is limited and it'd be a quantum leap for them to cover all the comps I mentioned. I'd like to see S15 go FTA and the other comps I mentioned go to foxsports. I think this would be a good medium term builder for Rugby in Aust

foxtel is expensive and useless, especially with 10 fta and soon to be another 5 coming whats the point other than sport?

If it goes anything like the UK, the 15 or whatever free to air will be useless, and the sport you want to watch will all be on Foxtel. The anti-siphoning legislation will determine that in the end.

My problem with Foxtel is this:

The basic package costs $42 per month (which is a rort to start with), and contains about 35 channels ("with access to" more). 10 of these are News channels, which I don't need. I'll take two of the three "Sport" channels (you can shove Sky Racing as horse racing is utter shite).

I don't need the music channels, I don't need the "Entertainment" (I use the term loosely) channels, and I'm not taking the kids channels because quite frankly the little bastards aren't spending precious Foxtel time watching my TV. And chuck away Nat Geo and Discovery, despite my interest, because I can get those along with The Weather Channel on the internet.

So of those 35 channels, I'm watching EuroSport News and FoxSports News. Why do I still have to pay $42 for a bunch of the other shit? I'd rather just pay for the iQ2 and get the HD package with it (including sports channels) for $26 per month, then throw in another $20 per month account fee to get the two Sports News channels.

Like civilised countries.

And money well spent. I generally watch Sky News and BBC News, the sports channels (in HD when available), Nat Geo, Discovery, Lifestyle Food, the Comedy Channel, TV1 (just for old episodes of Frasier) plus the odd box office movie.

What we dont watch is Channels 7, 9 and 10.

Snobs? I bloody well hope so.

Actually I don't even have the HD package, my TV supports 720p though so that'd do the sports channels hey..

That's funny, because last I saw Foxtel did have some games of Heinekin Cup, ANZC, Currie Cup, Top 14, etc, albeit some via Eurosport and ESPN. Could've sworn there was the odd 6 nation game as well?

Not to mention tests between NZ and SA and others from the NH tours, which otherwise you just wouldn't see.

Yes, it leaves much to be desired, but considering that the market isn't fantastic the coverage is fine.

What I hate is the third rate treatment it gets behind every other Australian sport from Fox. If you watch FoxSports News (which is really handy), then I have learnt to turn off the Melbourne editions. The first 10 - 15 minutes of each 30 minute edition is about AFL teams, even if the "news" is a fringe player who rolled their ankle at training but will probably be fine to ride the bench this weekend. It's horrid. Then there's a few minutes of NRL highlights, and 30 seconds of S14 IF an Australian team played. I wanted to see highlights of a Kiwi team v Saffa team game I just missed, and all night Fox ran with the stupid Melbourne edition. Only after 12 did they show a highlights package. Woeful.

PS Loving Eurosport. Looking forward to watching a fair chunk of the Giro and enjoyed seeing some of the Classics. Having fun watching the odd curling game and Top 14 game too.
PPS Evans is screwed for the Giro. He may be in great form but he has 3 main helpers in the GIRO recently suspended for PEDs, and the only other good helpers will all be riding the crap that is the ToC or injured.
