    Wallabies v Springboks, Brisbane.

I'm normally pretty upbeat about teams I support, but this one doesn't do it for me. Particularly in the forwards. Fatcat will struggle having been out for so long. S Finger will struggle at scrum time. Ma'afu - come on fellas! Mumm is struggling and Brown is well below his best. It doesn't...

    Waratahs 2011

Lee, absolutely correct. I know of several players who have turned down pro academy because they have day jobs and can't afford the time off to train. The time commitment is pretty demanding from Nov - Feb with most sessions in work hours. It works well for students who are on holidays at that...

    Waratahs 2011

The trouble with both Mafi and Zipper is that they have both had an horrendous run with injuries. Mafi seems to have Rob Horne hamstring disease. Did his hammy again (about the 3rd time this year) playing for Uni 2 weeks ago. Fantastic player when he is fit, but a big risk at the moment...

    Shute Shield 2010

This weekend will tell us a lot. If Uni perform well against SD their show is back on the road. If they stumble again, they have some real soul searching to do. I watch a lot of Shute Shield and have done for a few years. I think there are a few S14 players that regularly show their class in...

    Nemani Nadolo

My understanding is that TPN had a steroid injection into his ankle (corticosteroid NOT anabolic) to get him through the last few games of the S14. It didn't work that well and he needs an operation. The surgeon won't operate until at least 8 weeks after the steroid injection as it will...

Sounds like Sippa has turned into another Pauliasi. Both great talents and both very injury prone.

Front Row Development - about time

I want to know what Tommy Carter was going to do on the left of Jerry if it all went pear shaped? I'd like to see him catch half of that! Awesome power, Jerry.

Vickerman was at the Uni v Randwick game today. He's in Australia for a couple of months but is going back to the UK after that. Originally agreed to play a couple of games for Uni but has a couple of injuries so probably won't be pulling on the boots this time around.

    iView Shute Shield

Agree, LG. The alarm bells were going off every time KB (Kurtley Beale) touched the ball. Looks like he's enjoying his footy again, and that can only be good.

    Shute Shield 2010

Agree that Mitchell and Beale were fantastic today and also agree that Tommy Carter was pretty ordinary. Unfortunately for Uni he wasn't on his own, the whole backline was pretty lacklustre. Uni's big problem all season has been half and 5/8. Nick Phipps will probably grow into the half job but...

    Waratahs 2011

Yep, my understanding is that it is Crohns and that he has had another flare up. As LG says it is an inflammation of the intestines and tends to come and go. Like a lot of these inflammatory diseases it can come and go and it is possible to have fairly lengthy periods without problems. However...

    Shute Shield 2010

Hux played 10 last week as well. Hangers has a serious shoulder injury and may not play again this year if he requires a recon. Uni have an abundance of back 3 players but not many 5/8s so Hux it is. Mitch Inman out for Uni as well. That's a shame, it's fun watching him and his brother Dane go...

    Wallaby/ Player Sightings

And of course there's also John Langford. Still running around in 4ths for Sydney Uni.

Tilse could certainly play THP if needed. That's where he has been playing for Uni the last couple of years since Jerry Yanuyanu started playing LHP. Having said that I think he prefers LHP and scrums better there. Ryan's been going OK. He kept Tilse in 2s for a couple of weeks and then Jerry...

LG, I don't have a high regard for Barry Fa'amausili. Certainly talented and big enough, but doesn't do the work and has a bit of an attitude problem, or at least he did when he was at Uni Colts a few years ago. Dan Roach at Easts looks OK, and has had a bit of experience in Europe. I am not...

    Shute Shield 2010

FP, he's been playing wing/fb mainly in 2s for a couple of weeks now. Very quick, and knows where to pop up, a very good player. He is very small though and has had a cruel run with injuries. He came off with about 20 to go yesterday. I am not sure what the problem was but he walked off and...

Lee, I'm a big fan of Tetera Faulkner. He seems to have matured a lot this year. Must have had a big off season. He shares a house with Dan Palmer, so maybe he learnt a few tricks from him. He fulfils my criteria of a year or 2 of tough grade rugby against good props before he gets promoted...
