    Munster v. Australia

Nobody was outstandingly good, that is for sure. I guess it is fair to say that the forwards were generally solid without being excellent - the set peice was reliable* (to the extent that defensive 5 mtr scrums were solid, and there was at least one tight head I can remember), the tackilng was...

    Munster v. Australia

I just watched the match courtesy of the appropriately named broadcaster "House of Pain". The picture was jerky and patchy, but you take what you can get. The conditions were pretty vile, exceeded in vileness only by the Wallaby performance. It started OK, and deteriorated throughout. The...

    Genia - straight talking:

I agree with young Mr Genia, except for the 'easy meters up the middle' part.

    The Wallaby Reputation

Is winning as a result of kicking conversions and penalty goals somehow less valid than some other method? The shots Vs total count figures on penalties are interesting...is it that the Wallabies tended to infringe more in their own half? when under pressure from England attacks? ....like the...

    Bye bye JOC (James O'Connor)?

I wonder how long a while is? Is he injured? Does he have personal issues to attend to? Is he just plain dropped? Curious.

Do we really need a playmaker @ 12?

Do we need a playmaker at 12? It depends who else is in the backline. If QC (Quade Cooper) is at 10, we need someone at 12 who can cover two attackers at once. If we go with a more conservative option at 10, like say Barnes, then a 'creative player' at 12 could work well.

    The Wallaby Reputation

So what are you saying? Job done? Good work? There is nothing whatsoever that the coach should do differently? Do you reject any suggestion to the contrary? On the England match, what is a sucker punch? Did they do something underhanded in order to win? Was the result not a reflection of the...

    Italy vs Wallabies, EOYT 2010

    1. Robinson (as he may not be starting Vs France) 2. Moore 3. Alexander (as he is the best in the squad, but not Australia, in this position) 4. Van Humphries 5. Mumm 6. Elsom 7. Pocock 8. Hodgson (this is your big chance buddy) 9. Burgess 10 Barnes 11. Mitchell 12. O'Connor 13. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) 14. Turner...

    Munster v. Australia

Is that the official team royboi? Maybe there are some clues as to the plan for the Italians and French here...Is Van Humphries under consideration for a test cap? and is Hynes in line for a recall?

    The Wallaby Reputation

There have been some very good points made all round on this thread, much that I agree with. A few more or less related thoughts: It is always likely that after a defeat these kinds of threads will be busy. Of course in many ways this thread is not much about the game Vs England but about...

Wallabies v Poms, EOYT 2010, Twickenham

Reading through this thread has been quite an eye opener: should we be happy to have lost as so many lessons were learnt? should we just blame the ref and ignore the frailties of the team? should we accept that our 10 can't tackle and try to work around it? is the coach doing the best...

    Gnostic's Player Ratings V England

Wholesale changes?! Really? That has not been Deans' style in the past. I think that Moore, Sharpe, Beale and Elsom were a bit better than your ratings. Elsom's captaincy decisions were not good, but his play was. Deans has been the least successful Wallaby coach in terms of games won (well he...

    Munster v. Australia

I wonder if the Wallabies will go with the same team as for the Liecester match. Will there be any changes for the Italy match? Will those changes affect the team for the Munster match? My guess is that the team will be the same as for Liecester, except where injuries prevent it.

    Waratahs 2011

The 'Rank the Aussie Props' thread got me thinking about the situation at the Waratahs. My big concern is: what happens when Baxter is injured or rested? From what I've seen, Kepu and Tilse are much better at Loose Head than at Tight Head. Is Ryan ready to start at Tight Head in a Super 15...

Player of the Year: Wallabies v Poms @ Twickers

    3. Beale 2. Moore 1. Elsom (obviously not for his captaincy)

Wallabies v Poms, EOYT 2010, Twickenham

England played very well. Of course when judging the performance of the Wallabies, and their collectiv or individual potential, it should always be done against the best teams playing well. Beating a second rate team, or a top team that is off colour is no indicator of excellence. England were...

Then don't bring him over and don't play him. Simple. If he needs training, the pre season with the Waratahs would have been ideal.
