I wonder how long a while is? Is he injured? Does he have personal issues to attend to? Is he just plain dropped? Curious.

ok, yeah I was going to suggest it'd be a personal matter. If it was discipline it would've come through his manager.

"Meanwhile, Wallabies winger James O'Connor has rushed back to Australia to attend the funeral of a friend.

It is understood O'Connor, who wore a black armband at Twickenham, will spend less than a day at home before returning from compassionate leave in time for this Saturday's Test in Florence."

It wouldn't hurt for someone else to be picked for the Italy test. There should be no rush for him to get back for Saturday when he's going to be jetlagged and emotional from the funeral.

he's not George Gregan. He shouldn't be picked for Italy.
What do you mean by this, Nod?

Some five or six years ago Gregan played a test in Cardiff one Saturday, flew to Sydney during the week for the birth of one of his children and returned to London to play on the succeeding Saturday against England. Those were the days when George thought he was indispensable and the ARU did his bidding. It was also a selfish action on Gregan's part to deny both Whitaker and Australian rugby the opportunity give another halfback any game time. That's apart from his priorities in life when not staying with his wife and new baby was considered unimportant.

Reg's right, JOC (James O'Connor) should have a rest for the Italian game; Turner should get a run and another kicker needs to be found for next year.

One of his mates died at Straddy over the weekend. Genuine tragedy.

I'm sure that he isn't even going to try to play against Italy, in fact resting him against the Italians was probably at least being considered anyway.

But Gregan did Australia a favour by denying Whittaker a starting berth...

Its a famous spot for jumping off, but he got the timing wrong and hit the rocks. Just one of those terrible things.

Bit of a slap in the face for Turner if JO'C flies around the world during the week and still doesn't get rested against Italy. Maybe the plan is to keep him on the bench just in case a little game-saving cameo is needed at the end like last year.
