    The Israel Folau saga

As much as the public debate has focused on the religious aspect, I think that Folau's behaviour after the post is just as important in understanding RA's motivations. According to Georgina Robinson: And by the sounds of it his behaviour once contact was made was less than conciliatory...

    The Israel Folau saga

There are plenty of valid arguments in defence of Folau, some of which appear in that article. However, 'Leaguies have beaten their wives/driven drunk/defecated in hotel hallways and still been allowed to play' is far from the best of those. I am happy that rugby players are held to a higher...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

In the next few years there will be a tipping point where it's so fragmented that you might have a provider come along who will offer the service of bringing them all together in the one place. For a fee, of course. And then we will have almost come full circle, because we would have just...

Also worth noting these squad spots tend to pay peanuts and many older SS players are reluctant to give up their day jobs to hold tackle bags on 70k. .

I'm not sold on To'omua at 10, based on the games he played there last year. 12 is his spot, but that's just my opinion. I don't dispute what you say about Foley, but he has been on a slow but steady upward trajectory. It's still only April, and we've got two months before the first squad is...

I thought about both Fitzpatrick and Simmons. It's 50/50 IMO. The one bloke I actually forgot was Lukhan S-Loto. Could have him on the bench instead of Coleman. .

OK here is the team I would pick to play the RWC opener. 1. Sio 2. Fainga'a 3. Allan A 4. Rodda 5. Arnold - this last week has caused a shift for me. Coleman is not himself and Arnold is looking great. 6. Dempsey - wide open spot, this. Could easily be Jones. 7. Hooper 8. Naisirani 9. Genia...

Rd 10: Waratahs vs Rebels @ SCG, Saturday 20 April

Man it's such a dire game to watch. I love the fact that neither team is willing to play rugby in their own half, but it doesn't make for great viewing. The kicking is generally good quality though, and Hodge is looking good so far. A great audition for the Wallaby 15 shirt.

But they are not 'silencing him from making political statements'. They told him that if he makes statements that vilify minority groups, he can be sanctioned. I believe there is a difference there. There is no way that RA can extricate themselves from this. You want them to have no stance at...

    The Israel Folau saga

I'm uncomfortable with the views of some on here that have said 'young gay teens will be OK, they should just ignore him like I have'. Telling a historically disenfranchised group they should just 'brush it off' because it didn't offend you is not the best way to approach this situation IMO...

    The Israel Folau saga

It is possible to express your religion or political views in a way that doesn't vilify others. That is the basic substance of RA's policy, and the law more broadly. If Israel came out and advocated for superannuation reform, nobody would really care. If he called for an end to Muslim...

Really? To me he was past Latham, and approaching Burke. We've been blessed with some great fullbacks, but Israel was a phenomenally talented player. I shudder to think what he'd achieve if you put him in a backline with Larkham, Horan etc. It's all subjective and personal of course. .

Isn't Samu Kerevi off contract this year? Looks like his value has just gone up. He would look good in blue, though. .

Be worth throwing some Izzy cash at getting Taqele back maybe. Not sure when he's off contract though.

    The Israel Folau saga

And it's not the same as the Beale/Paston saga, where the wider public weren't privy to the full facts of that case. Beale could present his side of the story (whether it was valid or not) and create enough confusion in the minds of the public that many gave him the benefit of the doubt...
