    Wallabies 2019 Thread

I've always wondered why you can't take a squad of 30 players, and then just take 5-10 more as well. Are there any rules that your named players are the only ones allowed in the country/at training? I know there is a 24-48 hour rule for squad replacements, but to me the only reason you'd leave...

TRC Round 1: South Africa v Australia, Sunday 21 July 1:05am AEST

Boks may be fielding a few second stringers this weekend, in order to get players over to NZ early: https://www.sport24.co.za/Rugby/Springboks/15-springboks-to-fly-out-early-to-new-zealand-20190712

    Waratahs 2020

If nothing else it adds some interest to next season, and a new face for fans to look out for. Losing Foley, Folau, Phipps and Kepu, we're in real need for a story for media to tell and for neutrals to read/watch. .

It's funny how we often sour on players who other countries view as dangerous. My Kiwi rugby mates all rate Beale highly, and he's held in pretty high regard over in the NH. Same with Hooper. But we tend to see the flaws, or fixate on them a bit more. Which is not to say anyone is right or...

I'd be really interested to see if he picks Foley at 10. Cheika fell out of love with Bernard at the back end of last year, if you recall. Kurtley got a run at 10, and To'omua finished the year there. With Bernard still struggling to find his best form and Lealiifano now looming, I don't...

Have a look at the Australian Rugby Foundation, they do exactly that. Fund the Schoolboys tour, Indigenous programs, women's rugby, outreach, a few other odds and ends. .

I'd need to see something special from Petaia before putting him into a World Cup squad over AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper). .

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

A part of me is frustrated that AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) has been picked, as he's been very so-so at Super level this year. And he's about 47. And I just know that he's going to get more game time than he really deserves. But...... he will slot in and play his fucking heart out, and probably be one of our better...

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

Hey guys, I know we all love to froth and shout when a Wallaby squad is announced. But we've got a problem - this is a pretty good squad with no objectively poor choices. Here are some suggested lines you can use to channel that outrage: - Where's Raelene? She needs to be more visible in...

His defence is fine enough, certainly as good or better than his counterparts as you point out. It's the attack that worries me. He's a fairly spindly type who needs space to thrive. In test rugby there is just less space, gaps close quicker and defenders are bigger and faster. I worry he's...

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

I've said it before, so forgive me for repeating myself. I want to see Banks given a shot at some point, but I fear he's Jesse Mogg 2.0 - good at Super level, but his physical deficiencies may prove too great to thrive at test level. We haven't seen enough to confirm that assessment though...

Developing a competent Wallaby 10 is easily as difficult as those two things, IMO. .

People: What a shocking newsletter, we've stopped listening to this rubbish. The same people a month ago: Where's Raelene/RA stand on <INSERT ISSUE HERE>??? She's in hiding!! Too busy quaffing champagne in the Chairman's box. Not good enough!

A slight diversion, but I can't remember there being this similar discussion last year with people calling for a Wallaby side dominated by Waratahs. Funny how the Super Rugby form argument only seems to be used when it's your team in form. Clearly the Brumbies should feature heavily in the...

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

There's a few similarities between Sam Carter and Henry Speight, to my eyes. While they are capable of being good Super Rugby players, they have never quite made the step up to Test rugby. Both are worthy of a wider squad pick, but I don't think we will see them in gold unless there are...

So the Tahs have lost Folau, Foley, Phipps and maybe Hunt. The Brumbies have lost Pocock and Lealiifano. The Rebels seem to be losing Genia and Quade, and have certainly lost Coleman. The Reds have lost Kerevi and Higgers. Who are the remaining marquee players in the country? The people...
