Together with the mania for Hynes, I don't get the downer on Horne. He and Diggers have been the only straightners and hit up men in the line, and Horne's done a great job, considering the amount of traffic that gets pulled his way.

Gits' 2nd try last weekend was a perfect example, where it came from a breakdown where Horne had sucked in Tindle and 2 other defenders, getting over the gain-line and setting up a quick ruck that resulted in the try.

I have no problems with that but I think a fairer way would be toss of the coin before each drinking event to determine who chooses the drink. Must be some form of beer, full strength and no low carb options.

Agreed on the beer-only rule. I'd say we should do it Old School Bledisloe rules; home and away alternating, ties broken in favour of the holder.

While Chiundiza's death is very sad, dont forget, there were 71 deaths recorded in English rugby from 1890 to 1893 alone.

And your point is?

What happened over 120 years ago is perhaps not measuring apples with apples. I would suggest in 1890-93 there was not as much in the rules regarding player protection, either. Those stats indicate that a) serious injury or death were the norm rather than the exception and b) medical treatment was not at the same level as today.

Yeah, so show the missus how much safety has improved.

Sorry DPK. If there was a 200% decrease in, say, hang-nails over a 120 year period, that might be an argument I can confidently win. Telling her not to worry because deaths don't happen as much, well......

One of my junior kids got his nose spread from arsehole to breakfast at training last night, and the look of horror on the faces of the mums watching convinced me that there will soon be a sharp increase in junior golf!

I guess I'm lucky, being younger; I broke my eye socket the year before last and the injury was described as "Awesome" by my girlfriend.

I think that is one of the main reasons horney has been so quiet. He does better with a straightener inside.

Ouch!

glad they are doing this at least, particularly for Chiundiza.

The school has set up an Online Donation Appeal for Kundayi's Family, In loving memory of Kundayi Chiundiza

On behalf of the St Andrew's Cathedral School community we would like to thank you all for your heartfelt and caring wishes for the family of Kundayi, whose tragic death has brought such grief to us.

Kundayi lived here in Sydney with his mother, Grace whilst his father Richmond and 3 elder brothers live in Zimbabwe. Following requests from parents, students and other friends of the family, the P&F have very kindly agreed to fundraise for the family, to assist to bring Kundayi's father to Australia and to contribute to the costs of the funeral. We are immensely grateful to the P&F for this gesture.

If you can assist the family by contributing, please complete the form below. All funds will be allocated to a trust for use by the family.

If you have any enquiries regarding the fund, please contact, Lyn Jarvis, President of the P&F at jarvis50@bigpond.net.au or Vicki Fraser in the SACS Development Office on 9009 5466, VFraser@sacs.nsw.edu.au

***************

I would encourage all readers to contribute to this fund. While our health system may have let this child down, we can show that our compassion is world class.

Please spread the world to all your friends, family, and the Australian Rugby family.
*********************

At a memorial Service for Kundayi held in Sydney's St Andrews Cathedral today, it was announced that the Wallabies will wear black armbands in memory of Kundayi at tomorrow nights Test Match against Ireland, and that each match in the National Under 16's tournament will observe a minutes silence.

A huge bravo to the ARU, and the Wallabies.

If both Cooper and Giteau are running sideways then it doesn't leave much room for Horne.

Cooper, Giteau & Barnes all played their best this S14 with big, strong, hard runner & defender outside them (A.Faainga, Mortlock, T.Smith, Horne, Carter, etc). Playing a combination of any two of them at 10 & 12 hasn't worked last 8-10 Tests against the top 5-6 countries. IMO it's time to pick one as the chief playmaker at 10 (Cooper?), another on the bench as cover, & A.Faainga(when fit)/Horne or Cross at 12.

Beale isn't a decent winger. There is no evidence behind that claim. He could well be, but there is just no evidence.

These backs we have are too versatile if you know what I mean. I'm worried that none of them are going to excel in any one position.

horne at 12, Chambers 13. Both are great at offloading, both run hard, both good at defence, Whos with me?

I'd be happy with that result. Althought I think Chambers could do with another years worth of S15 under his belt before being thrown in the deep end.

Beale has played wing before. He played wing for the dirt trackers last EOYT. Went OK there too which surprised me as he doesn't look like a natural winger.

But agree the bench isn't balanced. It would be more balanced with Hynes or Turner. But don't expect Mitchell or AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) to be subbed unless injured, so I am not to worried. Deans hardly uses his bench anyway.

Regarding versatility, I actually think that Ioane's and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)'s best positions are on the wing. We have a set of decent wingers, but we are hardly alone in that regard and wingers won't win you too many games if you aren't handy elsewhere.

Horne's current problem is getting more involved. Might come with more experience and more confidence at this level.

Not sold on Horne as a 12 unless I see him there a times first. What has made him stand out is his straight robust running with a good turn of speed, not his setting up his outside man. I am not a fan of selecting players in positions they don't play in senior rugby unless there is an injury crisis.
