Sharpie is out of Saturday's game with a back spasm - replaced by Chisholm with Chapman promoted to the reserves.

You've done incredibly well to post that so quickly... The story I read was time stamped 8.44am... You've posted at 8.43am.

Are you, in fact, Nathan Sharpe?

Look, lads, the whole injury situation has long since reduced this game to farce, for both sides.

So, paper-rock-scissors, best of three, to decide it - any objectors?

Yes but only because I believe that it shouldn't just rely on paper-rock-scissors.
There are many other party/drinking games that can be used as well.
Cumulative score at the end of the night.

Of course we wouldn't look to relenish the bench with either Douglas or Simmons. :(

Chapman is 4/5/6 cover, he will offer better flexibility, no if we could only use the same logic for back reserves. Barnes & Beale?

Did you mean 4/5 cover, or 4/5/6 cover? Anyway, surely if Deans is going with a youth policy Douglas or Simmons would be the choice. And Mumm and Hodgson provide enough cover for the loose forwards, not to mention Chisholm as well. Actually if we could teach Chis to catch, maybe we could convert him to a back up 8?

fatprop; agree with that about Chapman, plus the more developed and seasoned Chapman would be better placed to play in the Tri-Nations over the green Douglas and Simmons. Plus, Chapman did not disgrace himself for "Aus A", unlike some other "Aus A" forwards, and is a proven lineout jumper.

And here's my opinion, which some may not agree with: Chapman did not have a worse S14 than either Douglas or Simmons. For a while I've thought that Chapman should be a lock, assuming that he can lose the seagulling. The one thing that I liked about him this year was that a played a bit tighter.

Oh, and I think that the time for Douglas and Simmons will come. They both went well this year, but I think the support for them is ahead of their development right now.

I am very intrigued about this match. I expect the Irish to really front up & it will be interesting to see how the Wallabies get on. In truth, the Wallabies should win by plenty, but for some reason I don't think they will.

Australia to really miss Ioane as a penetrative runner, Horne will need to really step up. Irish picked Sexton, who I don't know too much about, over O'Gara but that can surely only be a good thing for their defence.

I reckon a 25-20 sort of a scoreline to the Aussies.

There has been a "sort of" development process usually. Guys get brought in in June, get a taste of the System and then get a game in November if still fit.

Chapman was no worse, but Douglas and Simmons have shown a greater trajectory as far as improvement goes. They are old enough and big enough to be reserve locks for the Wallabies. John Eales must have been 20 or 21 when he made his debut for the Wallabies (in fact he must have been 21 at the RWC), the same age that Simmons and Douglas are now. I agree that having too many young guys in a squad can be detrimental, but if the younger option is just as good, but has more potential, why wouldn't you try him out?

So what winning margin (assuming we actually do win) would be seen as acceptable? Or are the Tris the only thing that counts this year?

This will be a great battle. I don't think the Irish pack is too crash hot, like ours. But their backline rocks! like ours. There's is probably a tad better, if only for combination.

A very interesting test match awaits!

how do you honestly rate the backline they have named as better than ours?
