Wallabies 2024

Learning more from Bryn Hall than from Jake Gordon is bloody grim from an Aussie point of view
TT, I think we have gone through a period where talented players with knowledge have not had the success that's important to mentor players. If you have battled for years and lost most games it means you can't talk much about how to win as you have mainly been defending.

How is that your takeaway from the quote?

You would assume that another halfback with over 120 Super Rugby caps also has something of value to add, particularly as the only halfback with any experience Edmed has ever played with is Gordon.
Edmed isn't the only young player with a limited understanding of top level rugby smarts. Most of our players are lacking in basics and any old head, like Gordon could have pointed out how to improve but there is nothing on show in the Tahs to prove it. As I said, better to hear from players who have a successful career behind them. I thought that was pretty obvious.

It's good to play with lots of players and learn what you can from everyone around you, particularly those who have played professional rugby for over a decade like Bryn Hall.

Bryn Hall has won four Super Rugby titles and been part of that Crusaders dynasty. He's obviously a player that lots of players can learn from.

Hopefully Edmed gets to play behind a competitive forward pack next year. It has been pretty difficult to measure his improvement behind one that is constantly going backwards.

Because it’s the best football he’s ever played, and he specifically mentions the halfback as having been a major influence

He talks as if it’s something he’s never really had, which would explain his inconsistency for the Tahs

Not bad squads considering there is 13 on the unavailable list
was hoping to see daugunu, Leota, porecki and wright back in one of the squads but not ready yet
Must be a shame for wright gees he misses a lot of matches
Like the inclusion of Skelton in the pack to add more beef and also Kerevi at 12 to add some size in the backline
Also in the A squad great to see hoopert and lambert who both missed the super rugby season

Can’t really work out the exclusion for Toole for potter and pietch
Other then he has been in the squad the whole rugby champs there must be something Schmidt is still concerned about his game going into the test arena - but not sure what! or still wants him to work on!

Someone earlier posted that McReight will be captain, correct? So if Skelton starts, do we see Williams pushed to 6 and Valetini to 8?

No captain was announced.

This was the press conference today
Harry Wilson had done "a really good job" as captain during the Rugby Championship but interestingly Schmidt would not guarantee the 'c' would be next to his name for the first Test against England in London on November 10 (AEDT).

"It's not something that we've actually talked about yet," he said.

"Harry would definitely be one of the standout characters who's likely to be involved in leadership of the team in some way, shape or form. Whether that's captain, we're not sure."

Pleased to see Edmed get rewarded for some good form in the NPC but it’s a huge step up to Test rugby. Lynagh was talked up here as the new messiah without having played a full Super Rugby season and that hasn’t gone too well. Patience with Edmed and our other 10’s is imperative moving forward. If our forwards can provide a good platform up front, then at least our 10’s will have something to work with.
