Wallabies 2024

I really like those squads.

Very disappointed for Liam Wright - but that aside there appears to be some strategic selection around who will benefit from Australia A game time vs being on the squad. I guess if there are a few injuries at short notice that could cause a few issues, but I think in the longer term guys like Flook, Toole & Hooper will get a lot of benefit from playing Australia A and I’m guessing Schmidt is very confident guys like Uru and Potter can do the job if required.

so thats 34 and 29? Surely another 10 option for the XV.
There's mention that Lynagh will be going to Japan with the Reds for the Santori game, and that he could then be going on to UK to join tha Aussi 15 squad.
So maybe he is the extra player

Metaphorically young in his technical development as a prop.. 24 is still young for a prop
Historically yes, but increasingly props are coming through at a younger age. Agree he has some way to go but I think there is a lot of promise there. I’m happy enough to see them persist with him.

I don’t really see much merit in selecting someone like Sio at this time unless there was a likelihood he would be a regular Wallaby going forward.

If you were to bring Sio in, personally I think it would make more sense to give Slipper a break and see if he can use the off season to freshen up and get one more good season out of his body. Looking very dubious to me.

Don’t disagree.

id question the value of Slipper touring if Sio was available though. Slipper loses nothing by not touring, and potentially gains a bit of longevity entering 2025 by having a decent off-season.
Beat me to it

I guess he's in the leadership group.

No real complaints about those squads...

Toole is unlucky, and I'd really love to see his pace in the test arena, but Potter deservingly rewarded for playing well against decent quality opposition on the Force tour.

A bit concerning to see Liam Wright and Leota still unavailable through injury.

And considering how many injuries seem to get picked up on the spring tour, there'll be a few players in that Aus X squad that will likely get a call up.

The selection of Sua’ali’i probably pushes him out, but I also wonder if they just think the Australia A is a chance to give Toole a couple of stars v giving him time off the bench in the Wallabies.

He has commented that he’s only signed up until the Lions tour, not inclusive so it may be a case of squeezing the lemon for every drop.

Just remembered Potter actually played at 13 for the recent Force matches...
