    Where to for Super Rugby?

" As for RA saying that NZRU would have to let players be picked for ABs if they were playing for an Aus team is beyond arrogance, as it would be for NZRU to give RA instructions " The issue i have with this is you want your cake and eat it to. Firstly it is not the RA stating this it is the...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Take away Super rugby and it would be about a split second before the kiwis all of a sudden become interested in a Trans competition. But what dru say's is most important, regardless of domestic/trans competition it is the structure of the competition that is the most important thing moving...

    Australian Rugby / RA

Agreed but to attract private investment, something that will be vital if the game is to survive & start moving forward, then the code has to meet private investors somewhere in the middle. It was Forrest that said dealing with the RA was like walking through wet cement.

Agreed, however maybe not that simple, but the one thing you can't do is involve all these people and the give them a list of terms & conditions.

    Australian Rugby / RA

Of course the Wallabies are the only drawcard in Australia, every part of the game here is sacrificed to ensure no alternative is possible. Look at the calendar from July onward the prime three months of the winter you give exclusivity to the Wallabies, yet then whinge that no alternative is...

    Australian Rugby / RA

Be careful what you wish for. The whole reason why the game struggles in Australia is the top down approach and using the wallabies as your primary driver of funding/growth/content, the lack of a domestic presence is the primary reason of the games continuing niche status here. A top down...

    Western Force 2020

Thanks Guys, that was a bloody interesting listen. Phil Kearns of the leash or someone that knows his foxtel paycheck is about to come to an end, but why has it taken 20 years for these guys to state the obvious. Same with Michael Cheika in the Australian yesterday.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I think that may be a massive dose of wishful thinking for about a dozen pretty good arguable reasons, once this thing blows over it is the sanzaar model of rugby which is gonna struggle to reboot.

    2020 crowds and ratings

Hi Guys, do we have the ratings for the footy games last night, curious to see what if any effect this has had, even though only one game, could enhanced ratings justify continuing to play.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Yes thought this as well, I do wonder if it has to do with trying to fulfill there Super rugby obligations, regards broadcast payments Which i gather is why the NRL/AFL are still forging ahead.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The Broadcast deal was always going to be put on hold the minute this thing entered the ring. The problem the RA have is will those broadcasters have any cash left after its left.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Couldn't agree more, with all this talk of broadcast deals, as if a game of Super rugby on fta every week is somehow going to engage this massive dormant fan base. All we appear to be offering is a few more club games chucked in to add content, yet hardly any serious attempt to address the...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Maybe not that far off the mark, the rebels are proving to be a very costly exercise, and the rumor mill is already in swing. But i can't see why Twiggy would risk taking the Rebels on, sadly Victoria is a rugby desert, surely a team in NSW would be a better option.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The whole justification for Super rugby & constant defense for all its short comings was the need to ensure that top professional player wages were matched with those overseas for them to remain here. This was done at the sacrifice of growth & sustainability of the game here. Take that away...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The only issue i have with that format would be a 12th team to ensure 6 games per round, but where i'm not sure, you would want a 2nd team in NSW, the biggest market. But also agreed you would need a free market within the competition.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Massive back page article in the Australian going on about the refereeing standards in Super Rugby, but essentially saying SANZAAR will do nothing about it, Marinos refusing to be interviewed. This is followed up by a long Jones article, with the usual anti RA theme, but pretty much focusing...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

https://www.smh.com.au/sport/rugby-union/ratings-in-free-fall-the-truth-behind-shute-shield-tv-rights-deal-20200214-p540x2.html Although this SMH article does explain things a bit more, get the feeling this ncc comp may not quite be as expansive as first predicted.
