I'm not looking at excuses to bad mouth, imo i don't think she has done a bad job considering the issues facing the game here, I agree wholeheartedly about going to the open market for broadcast rights. But in this situation, I think she should have been more perceptive. She is the CEO, and...

Look I agree with that, overseas clubs are hardy likely to be flush with funds after this. But she is the CEO, she should have been more aware of what % pay cut the players were likely to be offered. Giving herself a 2nd pay cut looks more reactive than leading from the front.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

That's if WR (World Rugby) have any money left after bailing out all the 1st Tier rugby nations.

Castle is contracted until the end of the year hard to see her continuing. Aside from TV rights why remove her now. I agree she was handed a shit sandwich, but she has not handled some issues well. Even this pay agreement shows a lack of judgement, she should have been aware of what the...

https://rugbynews.net.au/for-australian-rugby-to-survive-our-governing-body-and-professional-competition-must-split/ Food for thought, separate the RA from running sporting competitions, the only issue being that requires giving up the reigns to some extent.

I'm sorry, but i thought he made a bloody lot of sense in that article.

Just seems a tad ironic how rugby here has happily bedded down with Fox spots for 20 years now, yet all of a sudden has woken and discovered she's the anti-Christ.

The thing that is hard to work out is Castle is only contracted till the end of the year, lets face it she's gone. Just not sure why all the posturing at this stage, is this to clearly label Kearns as the replacement. The thing I want to know is what is Kearns agenda, what would he do that is...

Agree with most of the statement, but the last paragraph is a bit much, the game of rugby fundamentally is sound, just a couple of tweeks, here's one stop the clock for scrum resets.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I would go close to that, 8 teams could be realistic, I would only differ regards Samoa/Pacific, just don't think the economics of that would work, Definitely a 2nd NSW team, maybe tender out for the 8th team, what about a 2nd Queensland team. The important thing would be making sure the...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Then surely this is a perfect time to address those two issues which everyone agrees, is fundamentally holding the game back in this country.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I think option 3 is what the RA will choose, it gives them a get out card to cut the Rebels, and they can continue with Super rugby, the issue being it is the RA who have never wanted to change things the current set-up accommodates the self-interest that controls the game in this country.

Question, Castle has reduced her pay by 50%, but is this just for 3mths ?, if so does she resume her full salary come July. My point is if this for only 3 mths then over 12 months that is what just over 10% pay reduction, am I right ?

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I would add 2.) agreed a salary cap, and it has to sustainable $3.5m, but maybe $3 or $2.5m whatever is manageable, what we can't do is mirror the current situation of a select few all doing very well out of the game while the rest are living of scraps. 3.) agreed, as attractive as kiwi...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Yes that is exactly what i am advocating, an open market with a salary cap or some sort of agreed draft or limited overseas players, maybe allow each team one marque player. Of course i would prefer aussie teams to select Australians, but if the competition is to survive and prosper then you...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Agree with pretty much most of what you post here Braveheart, in fact I don't think we are that far apart. Maybe reduce NZ by one game, and yes ultimately we will have to play through some part of the Test calendar. I am against the RA contracting players, so Test players should be played match...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

My point is stopping your domestic season at the end of June is insanity. You then dedicate July/August/September/October? to International rugby which has content of 1/2 games per weekend, we are playing up to 15 tests per year, this in my opinion is unsustainable. For starters playing NZ 3...
