    Where to for Super Rugby?

The interesting part of that would be who is involved in the 2nd division, ie: you have 2 divisions of 8/10 teams, without SA we have 9 teams so who makes up the numbers.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Rugby has to find out & remedy why at all levels it appears to lose viewers over a period of time, it often chargers like a bull out of the gates, but ends up limping over the finish line. IMO one of the reasons is the top down approach, any thoughts of a domestic competition here are hindered...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

No doubt Fox will broadcast the Super comp this year, but if they are expressing interest in BRI/SYD comps it may be a hint of what is desired long term. They have the NRL and AFL with successful domestic competitions both delivering better results for the broadcaster. They may be hinting to...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2020/jun/02/rugby-australias-financial-pain-felt-widely-but-not-shared-universally Wow, so its come to this, i dare say Fox exerting there bargaining position, but unlike the NRL/AFL its not like theirs been a clamoring of interest in the comp to restart...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Yep, lived in Melbourne for a few years before seeing the light and heading north, now that is one place with a figjam chip on its shoulder.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

His desire was for an elite competition below the Wallabies and a strong club base, he was never going to venture down the rabbit hole of which teams especially on a Force podcast, but the whole premise of an elite competition will bring that question into play. The issue is will that approach...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

But listening to the podcast, that is definitely the indication Johnson highlights an elite level best in the world competition below the Wallabies.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Yet here we are driving off a cliff, i'm sure everyone wants whats best for Aus rugby. The point being most people at the top of the game here have done pretty well out of it for the last 10/15 years, was that all for the benefit or health of the game.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I would bet on self interest. The problem with Australia is it is divided into two camps Domestic and International, those that are happy to sacrifice everything for Test Primacy and those who want a genuine domestic product, so while the game sits on the fence, self interest conquers all.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

But the problem is, the game ends up compromising itself so much structurally & with self-interest that you are never capable of going it alone, you end up never being able to dump them. we've had 20 years to get ourselves in some sort of position to go it alone.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Surely the only way the game can survive is separating the RA from the funding of teams. Say Fox sports does bid in the end, at most were looking at $12/15 million. Straight off the budgets of the Super teams would have to be reduced at least 50/60% just to start. Surely the only option moving...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

What your mistaking (or I should have made clearer) though is the definition of a club, we have five existing Franchises (moving forward you structure them as clubs) you then have to add 3 teams to make an 8 team domestic structure.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I would go further and argue that the only real solution long term moving forward, is along the lines of a club based domestic competition. And agree there can only be a single tier under the Wallabies. Sadly what i think will happen is a tinkering of Super rugby until 2025 and then a reliance...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I agree about the separation, each country has its domestic agenda and then meets for a champions league style competition. Even re-branding surely the name Super Rugby has to go.

    Western Force 2020

Is it just me or has Twiggy been overly quiet over this whole saga, probably quite smug watching from the sidelines, and maybe waiting to see whose left standing at the end. But the odd statement or comment would carry a lot of weight right now.

It would be interesting to know what was the list of items discussed with Wiggs and what promises were given before completely condemning them, strangely enough it seems about the only thing not leaked to the press.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

The only pressure Fox are under is protecting its existing Rugby Union subscribers. Theirs no doubt they want the rights, lose union and potentially 20/30% of there remaining subscribers walk(at a guess), but I imagine if rugby was not already on the foxtel books, the interest would be minimal...
