Super Rugby - Road to the Finals 2018

Just one other small adjustment. The only way the Brumbies can possibly make the finals is for the Rebels to lose by more than 7. Therefore, they only have to beat the Tahs by 16 and maybe less, not 24, to get there in the highly unlikely circumstances that both the Rebels and Sharks lose and...

    Brumbies 2019

Wonder if someone like Verity-Am might be thinking of returning to the West? Looking for more game time, perhaps. What would Chance Peni's status be?

    Brumbies 2019

There's been some whispers about a Lock moving on. I'm guessing Richie, but will be sad to see him go.

    Round 19 - Waratahs v Brumbies

Nah Michael. The shock inclusion of Nick Mayhew at No 10 and Blake Enever in the centres will see the Brumbies stampede to a massive win.

Chiefs v Brumbies in Hamilton 7/07/18

What I found most irritating was that the ref just ignored the approach by Pocock to review the incident. This, when so many other incidents in all games are reviewed to the point of boredom on the appeals by players (of all teams).

    Highlander v Rebels - Sat 3:15pm

Time might be off Scrubber, but it sure fucks with the continuity of the game.

Thank you RL. You have seen through the smoke and mirrors of those arguing some sort of mystical power in calling lineouts that only the fabulous Rob Simmons pssesses in Aus rugby. How anyone on here, or elsewhere (including coaches), could think that the lineout caller is solely or largely...

We're really on the same page Derpus, just that you are putting the credit for all that pre-planning (which you seem to call adjustment) down to the caller. I am saying it is a collegiate decision taken by the forwards as a bunch but directed by the strategic leaders (imo Coleman and Pocock) who...

    Brumbies 2019

If they beat the Tahs on the weekend, the Brumbies will arguably finish the year as the top performing Aus conference team. Just not at the top of the ladder because of their poor early season form. Conversely, if the Tahs win, they will unarguably finish the season as the top Aus team, not...

Agreed, but most of that adjustment will come after the ball is thrown in. It will not be dictated by the lineout call.

JJH would possibly be a better 10 than 12, but without seeing how he can run a backline attack, I'm in the dark. At 12, however, he is too light for modern day Super Rugby and his defense is very questionable. I don't see him as being a quality Super player at all.

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

Let's put the lineout issue to bed. There are too many options these days for a lineout caller to have the final (or even the major) say in which play to adopt in most circumstances. Will the throw be to the front, the middle or the back, or even over the back? Will the jumper being moving...

But the opposition just reforms to take account of the way the team in possession lines up. This argument is a bit of nonsense imo.

    Round 19 - Waratahs v Brumbies

Certainly, but the scrum is another matter altogether. The only way the Tahs will compete at scrum time is on their backs to stop being shoved 30m towards their try line. If the past is a guide, the refs will allow it to happen too, and the "Waratah collapse" will again go unpunished.

At Super level he has actually filled the 10 spot, but hardly played the position to the level required.

Round 18: Waratahs v Sunwolves, Saturday 7:15 AET, SFS

I know the question was directed to RR, but this is my take. Holloway is now the form lock for the Tahs. Simmons plays a different role, I know, but Holloway has been much more valuable to the Tahs go forward than Rob, and he is also very good at the lineout. In Wallabies' contention, then...

FF (Folau Fainga'a) has certainly come on this year. I like the comparison with Coles and Taylor. Spot on imo.

Without necessarily agreeing or disagreeing, just how does that present a problem? Another thing I can't get my head around. Isn't it the team throwing in who gets to establish the numbers and positions in the lineout? The opposition then has to number up with what the team in possession is...

    Round 19 - Waratahs v Brumbies

RC, interesting you see Sio and Carter returning via the bench. I know there is a temptation not to fiddle with the lineup too much when it has been performing very well in recent games, but then why replace Powell with Lucas? Powell suffered a very heavy knock early on against the Chiefs and...
