The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

Yes I agree it was a whole team effort that lost the B & L Lions. And Hooper deserves all the award he has received - he has been in the top 5 or even 3 players for the wallabies most games (not the Lions series). But I still would have chosen Smith over him if he was fit! Also when it comes...

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

Hooper was dropped because Warburton outplayed him every game. He was getting hammered from his lack of physicality. I thought he had a poor Lion series. Dean's brought in Smith because Hooper was being outplayed. He has improved since but still no way is he close to IRB player of the year...

    Waratahs 2014

haha good point! Can't wait for the Brumbies to bombard Beale with high balls!

    Waratahs 2014

I'd like to see Beale at 10. That would mean Beale could cover 10 comfortably for the wallabies, if Cooper goes down Beale is the most similar 10 that could fit straight in without having to change too much. Foley could fit into 12. Horne 13. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) 14.

I was actually never impressed with Simmons. Couldn't understand why he kept getting picked. This season I'm impressed.

If Higgers continues to improve he could be the next captain too. Just a thought.

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

Not a fan of playing both at the same time - well at least not to start off the game that way. You will lose either Mowen, Fardy, or Higgers at 6. Which means one less genuine option at the line-out. I think the perfect thing to do is have Hooper on the bench with Pocock to start. Bring on...

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

We definitely aren't lacking any depth in the 7 region, we should probably be more concerned with the props and number 8.

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

If you are slowing the ball down without winning the ball - you are still being effective. And I don't think he turns over the same amount of ball if you are judging games with SA and NZ. Nice post though. I definitely think the seven has more value when they are strong players over the...

    Brumbies 2014

I thought Rathbone is a pretty solid defender, He put on a nice hit on Falou! Would be a hard choice between the two IMO.

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

I'd like to see Dan Palmer in the mix for this scrummaging. He should have returned by then. Kyle Godwin in the Centres could be an option come RW15 too. Other then that its pretty much going to be who's in form at the time from the players who are already part of the squad - or current...

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

100% agree with this - this is what sets him apart from Hooper. Its funny we haven't even starting comparing them to Gill yet - who probably had a better Super XV to Hooper. Then theirs Colby Fainga who was picked ahead of Hooper at the Brumbies before getting injured and then being stuck...

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

I'm not arguing Pocock is only option. I am simply arguing he is the better one. However most of my comments are viewed at facing the top ranked opposition like NZ and SA. So you are right. Hooper probably would be a better option for other teams less physical. And your right I am building...

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

I agree. But this is pretty much my argument against Hooper. If everyone was doing there primary jobs correctly we wouldn't have problem. IMO an opensides primary role is to have a presence at the breakdown, slow opposition ball down, make turnovers, and tackle like a machine. Their...

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

Against SA, NZ, and the B & L Lions we have clearly been missing Pocock's presence.

Some-one answer this question for me. If Betham was never going to be match fit by the time he got there and was only flying over for the last game then why didn't tMckenzie just fly Spreight over. I heard he would be eligible by the last game.

This is certainly going to be interesting, I wonder who is going to be first choice kicker. Would have to say Harris is the most consistent.
