McKenzie picked Mowen as Captain last year because he was the best choice at that time. There was always a good chance Higgers would return from injury, or Palu who would push Mowen out of the team this year. This did not deter McKenzie from selecting Mowen, Nor should it it deter him from...

I would have thought Horne, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), McCabe and Cummins were all pretty close for pace.

There is no doubt AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)'s form is better then Kuridrani's. My above comments relate to the balance of the team, which work in Kuridrani's favour and work against Horne, Cummins and McCabe - as I feel Horne, Cummins and McCabe all offer a similar skill set - Hard and direct. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) has experience...

I agree. I also think its going to be Cummins V. Horne (maybe even McCabe too) fighting for a wing spot as they play a similar style. So I don't think its unfair to push AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) to the wing as he has a history of playing well there, IMO its unlikely Kuridrani will miss out.

Harris will be a great addition for the Rebs. He is one of those players you feel deserves to be in a starting team regularly. I also feel he is the best Goal kicker in Aus and should be first choice in that department too.

Not necessarily. I always look at who's actually addressing the group. More often then not it's Pocock. I remember thinking numerous times watching the wallabies in a huddle after an opposition try, seeing Pocock addressing the team and thinking - why isn't the captain doing this. Anyways...

You beat me too it. I think the game management part he will learn quickly. I don't think you teach a person to lead and have respect, but you can learn to manage a game better.

Yes, I definitely disagree there. I think he is a great Captain. He has made one of two bad calls in terms of game-play and decision making but that's something he will learn quickly. In terms of being a leader on the field and having respect from team mates and referees I can't think of a...

Hooper, If Pocock get's back to form he takes over the Captaincy.

Funnily enough I think Genia case is strengthened by the loss of Cooper. He adds another running threat that White just doesn't bring. If you look at our backline AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), Cummins, To'omua, Kuridrani - they are all fairly direct runners. His form is however just too poor for him to be selected, and...

That's an interesting point about the perception of Larkham by foreign countries. And I guess a valid perception given Larkhams lack of physicality. But take perception away from both players, then Kurtley's missed tackle rate alone sets him far apart from Larkham, and/or any other...

Summed up perfectly. If the decision for Foley or Beale came down solely to attack I'd still prefer Foley. When I think about Kurtley's strength's and weaknesses as a player I always come back to the conclusion his best position would actually be wing. Similar individualistic style to JOC (James O'Connor).

    Wallaby Watch 2014

Correction. You mean his defence is in the same style as Larkham's. Not standard. He is no-where near Larkhams standard.Beale misses wayy to many tackles and often is left looking bamboozled. This is why we should pick Foley. I feel he is in a better mind space then Beale - he continues to...

I just hope Cooper is back and well come the RC. I've never been sold on Beale.

My argument is there is no point in naming a long-term captain. As mentioned by earlier posters who wished the captain to remain the same come RWC. I don't see any major issues in naming Hooper Captain for now and changing it later on if another candidate steps up.

An interesting thought. Had Cooper not been injured I wonder who would have been dropped from Beale, Foley, McCabe, Lealifano.

There is also a good chance Gill could surpass him. Just because he is the best in his position today doesn't mean we should lock him in for the next 2 years, especially with the 7 jersey having so many good candidates. Even Colby has a small chance to surpass him.

I agree, but there doesn't look like any other options at this stage. Horwill shouldn't make the starting team let alone captain. I'd prefer a young Hooper as Captain over Moore though. I wouldn't argue with either AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) or Fardy given the role temporarily either.
