    NRC onwards and upwards

I hope there's no nefarious intent to do away with the Rams. I would still support the competition if they were discarded but I certainly wouldn't be supporting either or the NSW teams.

    SANZAAR Fan Survey

I'm going to resoond to Ruts426 comment: I actually think we'll see a day when Super Rugby has at least 24 teams spread over two divisions of 12 with two donference 6 team conferences in each division. To achieve this I would like to see the current conference realigned to fit better with timezone...

    SANZAAR Fan Survey

Looks like SANZAAR have started part of their planned review and research effort by gathering data via a fan survey. I've already added my two cents. One of the main suggestions was investigating new broadcast mediums particularly on the social media side of the equation. Work on integrating fan...

    Melbourne Rising Season 2016

I think a draft could work at NRC level. A more even distribution of Super Rugby talent would create a more equitable competition and develop opportunity for the younger guys coming through.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

So, the competition is over and both my names won. Don't know what that entails just but hopefully find out soon.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Thanks to everyone who has voted. One of them seems to be fairly certain (Stampede) and the other one (Breakers) while still close opened a little more of a lead. Hopefully enough tp hold out until tomorrow. RugbyFuture, I wouldn't be surprised if they do something similar for their logos...

    NRC onwards and upwards

See, the NRC would be the perfect place to introduce some sort of at least locally based draft system if it we re run seperately from the clubs. Even if it only involved Super Rugby squad members.

    Waratahs 2016

The Uni scrum isn't what it used to be. Not so for a couple of seasons actually. I watched the Wicks get the upperhand on it earlier this season. Also, saw that same Wicks pack comfortably match and at time out scrum the Woodies pack. Also earlier this season.

    Melbourne Rising Season 2016

That's a tidy looking list of young fellas in the U20s ranks. The NRC would be a great testing ground for a number of them. It would appear that the Vic system is really beginning to churn out the players.

    Waratahs 2016

As far as I'm aware they don't relocate any players at the moment. Even NSW Country is primarily based in Sydney so playere don't have to incur the cost of moving. This would stay the same. If the clubs pulled out leaving just the two private franchises they would still be based in Sydney. The...

    They started it.

    Waratahs 2016

When did the NRC have 10 teams?
  14. WorkingClassRugger

    Waratahs 2016

Would it? Prior to the ARC the ARU surveyed the players and found that they were massively in favour of it. I'd imagine that this would still largely be the case. Now, NSW is the only state where the clubs are involved. So the strength of the other NRC teams won't be affected. Now if the clubs...

    Waratahs 2016

I think the Sydney Grade structure needs to 1) Become more streamlined and 2) More inclusive. This can wither be done in a number of ways. The first one that comes to mind is as Braveheart suggests and cut the number of grades. I'd go as far as to suggest it is cut down to just two elite squads...

    Waratahs 2016

I've said this previously but perhaps the ARU should redirect the funds they are allocating to ensure the Shute Shield continuing broadcast (some $300,000) directly to the clubs if they are so desperate for it. Of course the offset of that is the potential for the SS not being broadcast. So...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Hey guys, I have a favour to ask. ProRugby has launched their team naming competition. They received over 4,000 submissions including a number of mine. Turns out two of my submissions have been shortlisted to the final three. The two are the Denver Stampede and the San Diego Breakers. Now...

    Shute Shield 2016

What was the final score? I had to leave for a while and missed the last 10 mins. I swear, I'm going to get to watch one game this year in its entirety.

    Rugby 360 - Foxsports

Of course there is. They need to know what each player had for breakfast, what the said to their partners before going to training. Their opinion on the weather today. I'm only half kidding here. During my time in WA every night without fail they'd drag out both the Eagles and Dockers captains...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Not yet. Most of that participation is too young to compete at the junior age grade levels at the moment. Could be a few years yet. But considering what they were able to do with the equivalent of $36,000 a year from WR (World Rugby) imagine what they could achieve with 10x that. Edit: I just found the...
