Jarryd Hayne signs with Fiji Sevens

Not going to lie. If the Tahs had decided to sign him I would have been fairly livid. We all know he would have demanded a premium contract with little to no proof in the game. That's money I'd rather see go toward retaining young up and comers or back into the community game.

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

I personally would like to see the now 8 team NRC go to a double round in the future. I think it could be done. The only issue is the window you suggest. The clubs would have a conniption fit.

    Shute Shield 2016

They've shown him on TV a few times this year when Easts have been playing. Looks like just another father there to watch his son.

    SANZAAR Fan Survey

The only issue with is the need to artificially maintain an even ratio. While in principle it means a fairer split it could be argued that it still leaves huge disparities in quality. Which in itself would case issues. If you were to go down this particular path it would have to be so on merit...

    NRC onwards and upwards

Hasn't happened yet. Considering a converted try has been wprth 8 points since day one of the NRC. Though, in the NRC a try is still only worth 5 points with the conversion given greater weight with 3. We'll see this year as we are now in line with World Rugby's variations. Though, I still think...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

You should really have tried to watch the Sunwolves. Particularly their early to mid season games before all the travel and inexperience caught up with them. They played some outstanding Rugby. As for the losing interest thing. I'll freely admit I've had a bit of a down year with all Rugby...

    Shute Shield 2016

Norths have played a particularly uptempo and flowing game plan this season. Perhaps they were able lure away from the dark side which I assume is League.

    Shute Shield 2016

Actually, beside Concord surely Rat Park would the next best option. Surely it would look quite full which is always better for TV.

    Waratahs 2017

You do realise forwards only humour halfbacks. You tend to be the smallest guys on the pitch so we take pity and let you think you're running the show.

    Waratahs 2017

Hey, let the likely back have his delusions. We all know that as a front rower you need to not only understand what your role is but alsounderstand each and every other positions job and where to be and when. While say a back only needs to know how to catch and pass. Which quite often they...

Western Sydney Rams . NRC Official Team Thread

They actually mention that Southern Districts have elected to remain as part of the Rams franchise from what I read. Which frankly makes a grest deal more sense.

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

There's a better way of doing it that can conceivably reach each and every coach and minimal to no cost to them. I've brought it up several times before. A consolidated and interactive player and coaching resource that emphasises both coaching and player skills development. A resource that also...

Western Sydney Rams . NRC Official Team Thread

Well, if Southern have changed their allegiances then they four major feeder clubs are technically all in the western half of the city. So, Western Sydney seems appropriate.

Western Sydney Rams . NRC Official Team Thread

Now officially the Sydney Rays. Though the furthest south they'll play their home games this season is North Sydney Oval.

    Western Force 2017

Looks a solid backline providing they actually can play and maintain the right gameplan to suit. Pity about losing Godwin. I suspectsuspect a bit of fristration has crept in there. He's a talented footballer with a strong future but the Force under Foley haven't been able to provide him with...

    Western Force 2017

Solid signing. Hopefully he can perform for the Force as he did for Gloucester.

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

Fair enough. But then perhaps the clubs should look to setting up some kind of post season social competitions. I suggested 7s previously but Viva 7s could be used or 10s. Focus it toward participation. If the season isn't long enough for some then perhaps some initiative should be taken to fill...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

Yes, but then we hqve 9-10 weeks of NRC and 6 Tests in that same timeframe. Then of course the Spring tour. From next year we'll have the Womens 7s Circuit and the Mens in 2018 following the NRC. Rugby is hardly disappearing.

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

Mate, I'm from out Campbelltown way. I know what we're up against in terms of competition for hearts and minds. But, focusing on the development of these facilities that either largey don't or clearly won't benefit anyone else apart from these individual professional clubs achieves nothing. All...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

Agreed. I brought the Oregon facility up to put the Melb City development into perspective. These facilities are flashy and all but they really do very little for the community game. The academy in Western Sydney sounds interesting.
