    NRC onwards and upwards

Had this thought while sitting in traffic today. The ARU is designating $300k a season to assist with the Shute Shield broadcast. A broadcast that seems to have built a fairly solid advertiser base. Now, while I'm a fan of the Shute Shield (I've watched it on TV every Saturday since I was 12)...

    The Wallabies Thread

My old man defined the different kinds of physicality by two broad terms. 'The Tough Guy 'or 'The Hard Man'. Some people have attached negative connotations to those two terms but he didn't mean it that way. 'The Tough Guy' was a player who put their body on the line. Worked his guts out and...

    Rugby TV Ratings 2016

Wasn't in reference to one singular comment.

We are likely going to see the Fiji Warriors. The same team that is currently competing the the Americas Pacific Challenge. In terms of developingthe NRC's commercial side I don't see how a team from a nation that likes to play in the same vein as most of the NRC sides is going to hurt this.

From the little I've been able to find out part of the deal with World Rugby included the travel etc. of the visiting teams as well.

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

I like the idea of a 'white' card signalling 5 mins in the bin. I think it could be applied to multiple infringments that often occur around the ruck. Often you see someone either penalised or YC'd while his co-offender skips punishment. The ref has to make a judgement call on who is more...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

The last I had read was a statement from the Chair of the 6Ns saying that they had no intentions of altering its window.

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

You'd have to ensure you could provide an argument to the clubs etc. that provides some kind of greater financial return. Otherwise I think it may be difficult to convince them to further relegate their traditional structures. My question is, do we really need it to run that much longer? Would...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

I've always assumed they finished up before the NPC.

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

Whille I wouldn't mind seeing the season extended I'd prefer it not to overlap with either Super Rugby or Club Rugby.

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

For FTA to be even an option a number of the NRC franchises need to sit down together and work through what works and what doesn't in terms of getting people to the games. I tend to think all the NRC franchises need to be working to make the kinds of crowds we saw at Concord and Ballymore...

    Rugby TV Ratings 2016

Having a schtick isn't only applicable to comedy. I'm aware of the issues and challenges that are facing the game. But constant negativity doesn't help.

    The Wallabies Thread

Doubt it. Well, doubt among his most fervorent of detractors. He'll forever been seen as unworthy purely because he was a Waratah and therefore couldn't have possibly have earned his spot regardless if all the evidence pointed to the contrary.

The winking face right after that should have been a fairly big give away.

    Ideas for NRC

Concord could be good if a little work was done to it as a means of upgrade. There are other options out there but it's a question of how far is too far for many.

NRC Rnd 7: Rising v Rays

Cheers. I had read about it being a possibility but hadn't see anything until this just now.

NRC Rnd 7: Rising v Rays

Rays end up taking it 32-38. They'll host the Spirit at what will likely be Pittwater next week while the Eagles will host the Rising at tbd.

NRC Rnd 7: Rams v Eagles

I would have been tempted to ask him how his TRC campaign has gone so far.

NRC Rnd 7: Rams v Eagles

At least tell us you made him pry it from your hands. I'd be disappointed if at least 4 or 5 of the Rams boys aren't picked up. Don't get me started on Walton at 10. So bloody obvious you have to question why it didn't happen sooner.
