    Rugby News from unexpected places

PRO Rugby wouldn't have cost RC a dime.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

One team to begin with another in either season 2 or 3 at the latest. There was some suggestion that Canada would end up with at least 3 teams. Before this whole situation deteriorated PRO had locked in the Vancouver location and were in the final stages of settling Toronto. If RC hadn't pulled...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

PRO wanted a least one Canadian franchise in its first season but RC elected to hold off sanctioning. PRO weren't the reason then nor are they now for the lack of Canadian involvement.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

The tweets about venues has seemingly paid some dividends. Several facilities keen to talk.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

This whole situation summed up quite nicely actually.

    NRC onwards and upwards

    Interesting concept.

    NRC onwards and upwards

The Rams have certainly got off to a good start by engaging the local PI community. But they need to oush further into the overall Rugby community as well as does every other NRC franchise. Get out among the club in each respective catchment. Offer them solid deals and help organise groups to...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Rugby Canada would have no actual interest in either team if they were to get up. Merely just a sanctioning body. The general feeling among the Canadians I know is that the 5 year exclusivity request was quite reasonable and similar to the 3+2 agreement PRO has with USARugby. This appears to...

    NRC onwards and upwards

More promotion and community engagement would be the biggest issue they need to overcome.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Rugby Canada decided to slip in a clause allowing for the entry of other pro leagues. PRO was asking for a 5 year exclusivity period. Evidently a Vancouver venue was secured and a Toronto venue was near settled.

    Western Force 2017

Hard to argue with much of that logic.

    Waratahs 2017

From what I can find he's touted at 127kg. He's a powerful alright but as you suggest not nearly as explosive in contact as Tupou at the same stage. Well, at least that's what I can tell from his highlights reels. Still if we can somehow keep hold of him he has the potential to develop into a...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

I've come to the opinion that as the game becomes increasingly more professional and the athletes more highly tuned that we really need to start looking at further restricting the amount of Rugby a player can play in a season. The attrition rate in the game is becoming increasing arduous and...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

Yes, but the AFL also has an army of DO's in comparison to Rugby.

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

I have previously suggested that the ARU should set up school starter kits that include everything a school needs to participate. I agree. Truth is we need to present a comprehensive program that 1) provides all the necessary resources required to schools and 2) provides the necessary training...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

I personally think part of the difficulty is that Soccer is easier for a novice to run and administer. You little to no training to effectively ref a schoolyard Soccer game. Rugby is a little different. I think the ARU should be targeting primary schools while linking woth local village clubs...

    Waratahs 2017

Very true. While I'm in a much better place today but for a while I wasn't. This lead to a large weight gain. It has and still is taking a lot of hard work to get back to something resembling my previous condition.

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

For ty For a TT competition to occur you would first have to overcome the NZRU's excuses centering around wanting to maintain contact with SA. I personally think that's bullshit. The fear is they do the TT comp and it proves popular here and we start to unlock the commercial potential for that...

    Western Force 2017

The Force are my second team stemming from my time living in WA and I have to say. I'm very tempted to dip into my savings account and buy a few shares.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Well, it could be workable. You have the Currie Cup, Mitre 10 Cup and NRC. Could easily include the Compenato Argentino, Top League and even potentially PRO Rugby. Would need to bring in a sizeable TV contract though.
