    Rugby News from unexpected places

Not from an unexpectedly place really but still very interesting. Back when I first alluded to a Fijian squad entrring the NRC I also mentioned that it was suggested it was the first phase of a larger push toward a franchise in Super Rugby. Well, a few more details have emerged. The group is being...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

I'd say PRO Rugby see Super Rugby as a more natural fit than they do any European league as its owner is currently in SA to begin talks with the SARU regarding some kind of partnership or ownership agreement of the Kings.

Chile have won the 1st of their two games series against Korea 30-12.

    Rugby 7s general chat

Absolutely. You wouldn't use it as a training tool. Like the WS it would require a completely different kind of athlete and dedicated squad. From an Australian perspective it could very well be used as an audition process for talent wishing to push for a squad place for the WS team. And yes...

    Scotland v Australia 12Nov16 Saturday

When was the last time we really comprehensively beat Scotland? It's been a while. They seems to get up for games against us. and we seem to get a little anxious around them. No surprises it was tight.

    Rugby 7s general chat

Actually depending on exactly how ambitious the ARU wants to get I wouldn't mind them looking into a Asia-Pacific circuit. Before anyone cans it consider AliSports recent announcement. They are looking to invest in Rugby and a part of that is content. We could run our 5 Super Rugby franchises plus...

    Rugby 7s general chat

There was a abbreviated proposal published on The Roar a little while ago. I think it was titled Sevens Rugby Smash. It was designed to run the course of 4 weeks with 6-8 teams. I think that would be worthwhile looking at.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

They did. Actually turned in record viewership for the event.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

There does seem to be an increased effort to get more T2 & 3 nations more Tests post RWC 2015. Which is great. It also appears that there's less and less than ever between T2 & 3 nations on the field. The trick now will be to transfer that grpwing competitiveness to being evident against T1...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

In other international news. A young Japan overcame a physical Georgia in front of a packed house (there were even people sitting in the stairwells) in Tbilisi 28-22. Romania got the best of the USA 23-10 in Bucharest. Second game in a row the USA hasn't fielded their strongest team and have...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Not going to happen. At least not invthe next 5 years. The Pro12 are eyeing up the US as the primary location with Canada as their secondary and woth the sanctioning of PRO Rugby in the US for at least another 2 season plus an option to extend for a further two it won't be soon.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Would be awesome if SBS could get hold of some NRC games as well.

The Awful Truth About The ARU's Financial Position

I don't know about the ARU but it would be an interesting model for the other Super Rugby franchises to investigate.

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

Any idea on how many of them they have on the books? After talking to them I couldn't help but think that it would be a solid model for the ARU to emulate. Especially when it comes to cost. You could essentially have one full time DO acting as a regional manager of a number of part time or even...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

I popped into my local Subway yesterday to grab some lunch and happened to be there when three Auskick blokee walked in the door, ordered and sat at the table just in front of me. Something I noticed straight away is how young these guys were. So I asked. Turns out the oldest had just turned 20...

    NRC onwards and upwards

I've been thinking about the scrum and the scoring system in the NRC and potentially the game as a whole. I've been a fan of the scoring system but my general feeling from seeing the reactions of those north of the equator maakes me think that we're unlikely to see a smooth transition if they...

    Just submitted my EOI.

    Western Force 2017

That's actually a pretty good deal. If you elect for the quarterly payments apart from the initial quarter up front (I'm assuming) that's less than $21 a week. I spend more than that on my morning coffee each week. I was thinking of getting one but I might go a couple with that deal.

    Waratahs 2017

I've never booed. I've sworn, despaired and walked off in frustration but never booed.
