    Waratahs 2017

Was referring more to his return to the 15 man game than being a Tahs squad member.

    Waratahs 2017

Horne, Folau and Kellaway switch positions in defence. Not quite sure how that works, but I think if Horne is at 12, the rest falls into place. Kellaway at the back, supported by Robinson and Clark. If I'm honest I haven't enough out of Clark to assume he has one wing spot nailed down...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

I think it will be some time before any potential developing League in Europe will be able to match the Big 3. But progress is being made. The Spanish federation are trying to overcome some ckub issues in order to take advantage of the opportunity for at least 2 Division De Honor games to be...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

There's been a lot of good news about the ever increasing activity in Uruguay lately. Outside of Argentina and Colombia they are seen as the real mover and shakers of Sth American Rugby. However, another growing nation in Brazil aren't happy to be left behind. They've already established three...

    NRC onwards and upwards

I'm not sure if we'll see a Samoan or Tongan side enter the NRC. As much as I'd like to see it. Part of that reason is relative to Fiji they lack the necessary infrastructure. What we may see is funding on behalf of WR (World Rugby) toward the NRC to contract players from Samoa and Tonga. In terms of the...

Ali Baba to invest $100m to grow Rugby in China.

It's ambitious that's for sure. Which personally, I quite like.

Ali Baba to invest $100m to grow Rugby in China.

The difference now is the level of resources afforded to the game.

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

They offer live in camps. Which are great but restrictive. I'd like tp see this model adapted to the Hockey program Quick Hands suggests.

Ali Baba to invest $100m to grow Rugby in China.

According to the article they are looking to launch programmes in over 10,000 schools and Universities nationwide. They only need to get an average 100 kids a school to get on board and they'll get it.

Ali Baba to invest $100m to grow Rugby in China.

Originally it was suggested it would be $1m a year for 10 years totalling $10m as a whole. Turns out it will be $10m a year for the same 10 year period. Totalling $100m. I should state that it's USD. If I were SANZAAR I'd be talking to Alisports about getting Super Rugby on their services. Hell, the...

    Who is the GAGR troll?

    There's only one WCR.

Ali Baba to invest $100m to grow Rugby in China.

A few months ago it was announced that Ali Sports the sports division of retail giant Ali Baba would invest in Rugby in a landmark agreement. The original announcement suggested it would be $10m a year over 10 years. Not so. It will in fact be $10m for 10 years. They have the lofty ambition of...

Tier 3.5 - An Alternative NRC

Shows an utter lack of respect for anyone but himself and his merry band. I have a growing disdain for Papworth and Co. and been less than impressed with how they've gone about their mission. But there is an upside. Each and every time they leak and whine to the media they lose more and...

Tier 3.5 - An Alternative NRC

That's actually something I'd like to see. Everyone seems to agree on the four likely protagonists are in terms of clubs. If so, I'd like the other 8 if not involved to publicly state their position.
  15. WorkingClassRugger

Tier 3.5 - An Alternative NRC

Not the clubs but the players. The ARU makes the point that the NRC is the pathway to higher honours. Won't be much of a revolt if all the best players are all playing in the NRC as they should be.

Tier 3.5 - An Alternative NRC

Sorry for this language. But fuck them and fuck Club Rugby if they do this. The ARU should make it very clear that it's the NRC or nothing for players. I won't be watching this bastardised attempt to screw the game over and I won't be watching the Shute Shield next season either.

Tier 3.5 - An Alternative NRC

Exactly. What do these guys think it would achieve?
  18. WorkingClassRugger

Tier 3.5 - An Alternative NRC

It's always been about club Rugby. These guys have an innate inability to think beyond their own elite little groupings (I'm talking about the individuals in the article. I don't pretend to believe they are representative of the clubs that are backing the NRC). The game isn't suffering...

Tier 3.5 - An Alternative NRC

If you're going to look to boost coaching numbers you should also look at doing something similar with referring. Setting up some kind of club starter kit may also be worthwhile alongsidd bolstering coaching numbers.

    NRC onwards and upwards

Honestly, I have an ever decreasing amount of time for Papworth and his myopic perspectives on 'grassroots' Rugby. So, if this were to occur I'd pay little attention to any bleating coming from his mouth.
