I am sure thay would have consulted their sponsors and had a very clear idea of the consequences of not taking more direct action. The fact that a couple, or more, of Izzy's own sponsors have pulled out is a fair indication of what might have happened in your scenario.

The Brumbies have had a strong attacking maul for some time, but I believe Dan McKellar has added the starch to the defensive maul, as he did with the ACT Vikings in the NRC a couple of years ago. Lineout work is very good. But, by god, in what universe has he been any better or stronger than in previous years. As Adam84 says, there are many better than him and it's way beyond time for Cheika to admit his failing in continuing to pick him at Wallaby level.

UTG - I generally agree with your post, but think you're overegging Kepu's involvements over the past two years. AAA had already surpassed Keps last year and this year both AAA and Tupou are better. On the other hand, Coleman is lucky to be in the running on the basis of his form this year...
