    Un-Australian Activities 2019

Sad to see after the enjoyment they have provided throughout their tenure to date. But it just might be the reality of being cut has finally started to set in.

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

I know that one swallow does not a summer make, but maybe ask Sam Whitelock if Nic White can tackle or not. Lifted Sam on the run and sat him on his backside in one game against the Crusaders. I do remember there was a lot of hate (or extreme dislike) for Nic on these threads before he left...

Rd 11: Brumbies v Jaguares, Buenos Aires, 28 April 7:40am AEST

My biggest concern is that the Brumbies will need to win and retain possession at least 50% or more. If the Jaguares have as much ball as the Stormers had, they will put on plenty of tries.

I'd argue, Slim, that he was the second best before he went overseas.

Giving Joe a bit of rest? His last two games have been outstanding. Unfortunately, Lucas is quite a big step down from Joe. The pack should again finish on top, but the backs might have some problems. If they defend like last week, then the Argentinians will find it hard to score. The attack...

Agree FF (Folau Fainga'a). Particularly with the lineouts. The thrower seems to take an eternity once the lineout is set to actually hoist the ball in. There was a time when the thrower was short armed when he delayed the throw by a second or two.

    New Zealand Rugby Team Watch

A couple of observations. The provision for selecting players in the test side who have signed for the following year in Super Rugby is just an Aussie situation. As I understand it, other nations have the right and discretion to make their own rules about who to select. Note SA have done away with all...

    Refereeing decisions

I see that in League on the weekend, the referee, or the appointments people, have admitted to an error in the St George/Manly game (I think). Manly's Daly Cherry Evans when interviewed was very positive about the admission and had no whinges or criticism of the impact it had on the game. What a...

    Refereeing decisions

BH, is there still a gate at the breakdown? I thought WR (World Rugby) had revised the law interpretations at ruck time to just require a player entering to be onside. In my understanding, that would allow a player to come from an onside position to enter anywhere on his own side of the ruck, not necessarily...

R11: Waratahs vs Sharks @ Western Sydney Stadium - Saturday 27 April 2019

Good summary Hawko. Hopefully the teams will respond by trying to win the game rather than trying not to lose it. Just not sure there is any momentum just yet with the Tahs for Braveheart's comment to hold a lot of water.

By my reckoning, based purely on observation, none of the NZ hookers have been hitting their jumpers with any more accuracy than our own. I think a loss or two, at most, should almost be expected in a game. It is more important that the losses ought not to occur at either end of the park.

    The Israel Folau saga

This is all starting to get a bit party political if I'm reading the comments correctly.

I'd agree that both need to lift their games a level or two. Form later in the season will be a big factor of course.

Barbarian selected his team for the RWC opener. There will be opportunities to run To'omua at 10 or 12 in the RC but whether Cheika opts for that option remains to be seen.

Barbarian, very close to what I'd go with as well. Certainly, I'd have LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) at 6 or on the bench with Jones the other way round. Dempsey might make it over one of those two, but his form this year isn't as good as theirs. I am not yet set on either Foley or Quade at 10, and think we need to...

    Shute Shield 2019

But doesn't that just gift the teams with the second bye with 5 points while the others (four sides I think) have to play for the chance of winning points. Can't see how there is any fair play way of doing it while-ever some teams get two byes and others only one (or three and two, whatever is...

    R10 Brumbies vs Stormers - 11:05PM

Slot McCaffrey back at 8, give Brown the 7 jersey and let him continue to play the game he put in against the Stormers, and move Samu to 6. If McCaffrey isn't over his injury, then Cusack gets a run at 6.

    R10 Brumbies vs Stormers - 11:05PM

Nah, they've had some big losses while Poey has been out as well. They have been inconsistent, not only week to week but within the duration of single games, this year and are just getting back to their form from late last year. Poey will improve any team he plays for.

Rd 10: Waratahs vs Rebels @ SCG, Saturday 20 April

Hawko, your point 6 is absolutely on the money. The Tahs kicking game was far superior to the Rebels and at no time did the Rebels try something different. I am disappointed that Quade seems to be hamstrung by the Rebels' game plan and that Wessells might not be the enlightened coach that we...
