He was immense in that game. I don’t know which of Blyth or Hockings is better now or who is going to be better down the track, but i think I’m going to enjoy watching our locks over the next 2-3 years.

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

If/when we crash out I doubt there will be a single definitive reason. But the standard of our goal kicking across the board is below where it should be IMO and I would feel more confident if we were better equipped to punish other teams Ill discipline and to maximise the points available from...

So, would there be any merit next year in 10. Lucas 12. Stewart 15. O’Connor or, maybe, 10. Lucas, 12. Stewart 13. O’Connor 15. Petaia?

It was more that I hadn’t had a chance to watch the game yet and didn’t know the result

Bobby Sands - I always enjoy reading your comments and your views on different players. I would ask that you consider whether you are posting on the match thread or the general discussion thread though.

The issue is though whether agents are acting solely in the players interest or largely in their own. A simple google search shows plenty of info on issues. One agent is currently in two legal disputes with former clients. There is an article which details who agents have significant incentive...

Just because a couple of young players (or possibly older players) think that an agent is purely acting in their best interests doesn’t mean it is true. Sport is littered with athletes who have been misled or poorly directed by their agent. I’d be surprised if many young players didn’t just...

    Waratahs 2020

Plenty of young blokes go off to live away from home and end up partying too much. If anything I thought that there was an increased push to keep kids at home near to their parents for longer.

I love the way Wood plays. Would be happy to see him tone down the trash talk and let his actions speak, but I think that’ll come with maturity. But his play itself is so wholehearted and full throttle.

    Rebels 2020

3 good signings - both good for the Rebels, and signings of guys I am happy to see getting a contract in super rugby. Especially happy for James Tuttle. Injury can be cruel but hopefully he has had all his bad luck now. I really hope he has a great year next year.

I’m not as critical of LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) at 6 as some but, regardless, I think it highly likely that he’ll translation back to the row over the next 12 months. I can see McReight getting a start from the outset next year with a backrow of McReight, Wright (6) & ASY (Angus Scott-Young) (8) with Wilson off the bench. I think...

Just thinking out loud - but if Carter Gordon is seen as a future Super Rugby level 10 and Lucas’ best position is more unclear, would it make more sense to leave Hegarty at 10 with Gordon as his understudy & play Lucas at 15?

First it was props, now it is locks where we have some genuine apparent talent emerging. I’m not sure about a golden age, but it’s certainly gives me more optimism then I’ve had for some time.

The upside of this years injury crisis is that Hardy & particularly Campbell both got decent exposure and CFS got more game time and, IMO, played his best for a few years. As ever, depth will be just as critical as who is in the first pick starting 15 and the squad is starting to look pretty...

I question your sanity on the basis of the first sentence, so I am not sure I can hold any faith in the rest of your post.

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

I understand the angst re: AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) but, TBH, I don’t think it is Banks spot he took as such. I don’t see the logic in having him there when there are 4 better options at 13 (IMO) and 5 better back 3 options, with TK that could cover wing in real need. I don’t see the value in his selection over...

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

If Dempsey is fully fit and can capture his Wallabies form from 2017 his selection could be a master stroke. Ditto for Petaia - but obviously on 2018 Super form, not test form. A few big ifs there - but I see the sense in their selection.

It will be interesting how it all pans out. Good problem to have as others have noted. One thing that these longer signings suggests to me - surely it casts aside any suggestion that guys aren’t buying in to what Brad is selling. That may well change if the Reds don’t taste success soon (and I...

I’ve been really impressed with him this year. Given he only came in after 3 or 4 injuries (Petaia, Daugunu & Hardy - but I feel like I am missing one). Guys like him just show we are still producing the raw talent, but we need these guys to really kick on.
