RWC Week 2 - thread for matches without a match thread*

Yep, I reckon the 4 day turn around was very instrumental. The second XV were quite undisciplined and the bench players who had played against the Wallabies looked cooked. But Uruguay played above out expectations, especially in defense.

If you could change the laws of rugby, what would you change?

Further to my comment on iii), I believe in the majority of cases those clean outs are designed to take defenders out of the line to create a hole for the next pick and drive. It is obstruction and should be penalised.

If you could change the laws of rugby, what would you change?

iii) - I know you are exaggerating for effect, but I would like to see any clean out of a player not bound to the ruck as a penalty. iv) - agree entirely.

If you could change the laws of rugby, what would you change?

All true Cyclo. Especially in the Wallabies game, the Fijians were swimming around the side to get at the ball carrier at the back in many of the mauls. I have also noted this year that the Wallabies (and the Super teams beforehand - especially the Brumbies) had players joining in front of the...

    RWC Pool D - Wallabies vs Wales - Sunday 29 September 2019 @ 5.45pm

I do think LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) must come into the starting side to bolster the lineout against Wales. That means Poey to the bench, even though he would complement LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) and Isi if he were to play 7. If Hodge is suspended, that might save Beale's spot, but otherwise it probably should be DHP in at 15. An option...

RWC 2019 Week 1 Other Games match thread

DP, players should bind behind the ball carrier. The ball then needs to be moved backwards to the new player at the back. It is illegal for the ball carrier to swim to the back of the new players in the maul.

NRC Rnd 4: Brisbane City v NSW Country

I am so pissed off by the extremely poor streaming coverage, I've given this game away after 10 minutes. Buffering every 2 - 3 seconds is just unwatchable. Streaming in general has a long way to go to make it an alternative to Fox live coverage.

RWC Pool D: Wallabies v Fiji, Sat 21st September, 2.45pm AEST, Sapporo Dome

I think this was exactly the match we needed to get the tournament underway. Fiji came out all guns blazing, hitting hard and running hard. They attacked with exuberance and defended with intent, and built up a two score advantage. The Wallabies were able to turn things around in the second...

RWC Pool D: Wallabies v Fiji, Sat 21st September, 2.45pm AEST, Sapporo Dome

I think I've seen a couple of your posts referring to JOC (James O'Connor)'s pass setting up Hodge. In fact, the ball went to JOC (James O'Connor) who passed to Beale who then passed to Hodge. At first, I thought Beale could have scored himself, but on replay it was clear that the defense was coming over and would have him...

RWC Pool D: Wallabies v Fiji, Sat 21st September, 2.45pm AEST, Sapporo Dome

Pretty much agree with all observations Slim. I was starting to think I was the only one not impressed with JOC (James O'Connor). The same issues of lack of combination between 12 and 13 were evident as when Kuridrani plays 13, so looking like the problem might be one spot infield at 12. And Kuridrani is just so...

NRC Rnd 4 - Western Force v Canberra Vikings - UWA Sports Park - 21 Sep - 3 PM (WST)

Slim, I think all three of the remaining games are at home. Will need to strengthen the front row at scrum time, though, to make the finals.

    Drua vs Sydney

Some absolutely exhilarating rugby from the Drua. Sydney might have gone to sleep a bit in defense but some of those off loads, short passing and swerving runs would have scored nevertheless. Actually thought the ref kept Sydney in the game til early in the second half with some baffling...

RWC Pool D: Wallabies v Fiji, Sat 21st September, 2.45pm AEST, Sapporo Dome

Latu, Kepu, Hooper and Beale. Accuracy? But I do concede the numbers for this test are well down on usual since three heads are present at the selection table.

RWC Pool D: Wallabies v Fiji, Sat 21st September, 2.45pm AEST, Sapporo Dome

JB I can accept that Jordan Uelese offers more bulk at scrum time, but both Latu and Fainga'a are listed as 1.76m with Latu 110kg and FF (Folau Fainga'a) 106kg. Hardly enough to make a difference in a 900kg unit.

Was injured. Petaia is apparently the only currently injured player.

RWC Pool D: Wallabies v Fiji, Sat 21st September, 2.45pm AEST, Sapporo Dome

Fainga'a is a more creative player than either of Latu or Uelese. He is more likely to set up an attack with the ball than the other two. Latu has a reputation for over the ball work, but also has a reputation for giving away a lot of penalties. Uelese is all potential, and plenty of it. But...

RWC Pool D: Wallabies v Fiji, Sat 21st September, 2.45pm AEST, Sapporo Dome

D, I appreciate your comment, but I must take exception. I have rarely, if ever, accused the Wallabies setup of conspiracy. Incompetence at the head coach and selections table, yes. It is only now, in light of the treatment being dished out to various in-form Brumbies, Powell, Samu, Kuridrani...

    Rugby World Cup 2019

BH the way I see it is that on form over the past 4 years, we should only have an expectation of reaching, not winning, a QF. How we get there and who the opponent is will have a big bearing on the chances of winning the QF, but if we make a SF then that is where, long term, I see the Wallabies...
