    RWC Pool D - Wallabies vs Wales - Sunday 29 September 2019 @ 5.45pm

I thought the two telling moments in the game were when Allan Ala'alatoa was replaced by Kepu (the scrum then went from dominant to below par) and Hooper's decision to take the three when all the momentum was with the Wallabies. The kick was successful, but the rest of the game was almost...

Well, blind Freddy can see why. Consistently poor player selections, incessant reliance on his under-performing favourites; poor game plan and management, no long term improvement in players' skills. Should Freddy continue on?

I am not certain but very, very sure that plane of touch was taken out of the equation either at the start of this year or last. Only question is whether his feet were on the touch line when he jumped.

NRC Rnd 5 - NSW Country Eagles v Western Force - Port Macquarie - Sat 29 Sept - 3PM EST

Congrats to NSW Country. A win over the unbeaten Force is not a little thing. Game was absolutely spoiled by the rantings of the main commentator. Can someone please let him know that he is spoiling the whole spectacle by his obvious lack of knowledge of the players and the game.

NRC Rd5: Canberra Vikings v Fijian Drua, Sat 28 September 12pm

Watched a replay. I think the Vikings/Brumbies might have found the No 10 to replace Christian. Bayley Keunzle provided more variety to the attack as well as being a threat with ball in hand himself. Also a strong defender. Looks the goods to me. Much stronger performances by both Samu and...

NRC Round 5: Queensland Country v Brisbane Sat 28 Sep Gladstone

You've really got some very good players (future stars) coming through the Qld ranks. Both Hockings and Blyth were excellent. Have to say I favour Blyth but hardly a struck match between them. Harry Wilson looks to me like he could be the best of them all in a year or two. A lot of K Read...

A bench mark set in the Vikings game today. Banks kicked a penalty from mid field just inside Drua half and found touch on the 5m line from the try line. Let's see if Foley can consistently get half that distance.

NRC Rd5: Canberra Vikings v Fijian Drua, Sat 28 September 12pm

What a great place to watch a game. On the balcony of the clubhouse in the sun with an elevated view from between the half way line and 22m line. Good beer on tap, Asahi Black, and lunch brought to the table. Does life get any better? To be even handed about Lonergan though, he also put in...

NRC Rd5: Canberra Vikings v Fijian Drua, Sat 28 September 12pm

Vikings back in the game with bonus point win. Scrum was much more stable but that could just be that the Drua were less a challenge than other teams. More aggressive at the breakdown, especially in the second half co-inciding with Angus Allen's introduction. Irae Simone outstanding...

    RWC Pool D - Wallabies vs Wales - Sunday 29 September 2019 @ 5.45pm

I expect that this will be one of the main talking points at the end of the game. If Wales dominate possession through winning our lineout ball, the result could well be a disappointment for all Wallaby fans (though no doubt still be defended by the selection panel).

    RWC Pool D - Wallabies vs Wales - Sunday 29 September 2019 @ 5.45pm

I have no issue with your interpretation of the logic, Barbs. But if I was selecting the side, I wouldn't have had AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) there, nor would I have replaced White for this game. The talk here is that AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) is a strong defender and will put in a good defensive shift on the wing. I reckon I've seen AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)...

RWC Week 2 - thread for matches without a match thread*

How do SA get awazy with naming only two front rowers on the bench? I thought it was mandatory that all three front row spots had to be covered on the bench. Re Matu'u. He has a history of head clashes when he tackles. How can he be judged to have a clean record, or whatever the wording was...

    RWC Pool D - Wallabies vs Wales - Sunday 29 September 2019 @ 5.45pm

That's my take too. Think we will need four jumpers to stay on par with Wales. Even then, with an even share of set piece ball, I am not confident that backline will do very much with it.

    Refereeing decisions

I agree with what you say here tragic, but I do think Hodge was running too fast and at slightly the wrong angle in the first place. That is what allowed the Fiji 7 to attempt the step inside. Hodge was running a line directed just too far in front of the runner; he should have been angling from...

NRC Rd5: Canberra Vikings v Fijian Drua, Sat 28 September 12pm

McInerney's return hopefully will bolster the front row at scrum time. The Vikings' scrum has been so poor, I am wondering if there is a problem in the second row? So far, I've seen little involvement from Miller and both Samu and Valetini give the impression they'd rather be somewhere else...

If you could change the laws of rugby, what would you change?

My observation is that in more cases than not, the player attempting to pilfer places his hands on the ground beyond the ball initially. Others, and I include an Aussie hooker in here, use their knees on a player on the ground to remain "on their feet". Bridging is rife and not supporting own...

If you could change the laws of rugby, what would you change?

But the offending player still has to front the judiciary. He/she could be out for numerous matches depending on the offence and severity. The present situation is very inconsistent, depending on the time in the game the offence takes place and the interpretation of the matter by the referee...

Think I heard in commentary that Uruguay have only 6000 registered players.
