    Wallabies 2019 Thread

Brumbies also in 2012 and 2013 in the lead up period to the changing of the coaching set up in 2015. Interestingly, while the Tahs finished on top in 2014, the Brumbies again made the finals. The Brumbies actually finished in the finals on more occasions than the Tahs. On balance, I think...

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

Maybe the rule should be (again) that returning players have to turn out in the whole or bulk of the Super Rugby season leading up to the RWC to be considered. If such a restriction was common knowledge, players could take account of their ambitions or lack thereof when signing the high finance...

Wallabies v Samoa, Sat 7th September, 7.30pm, Bankwest (Parra) Stadium

Samu reportedly turning out for the Vikings this weekend. Would think he would be with the training squad now if he was going to be required for the Samoa game.

KOB, I really don't know if you were active on these threads back in 2014 and shortly afterwards, but if you were you would have seen that I have questioned Rob Simmons place in the Wallabies from the very beginning. It has nothing to do with him being a Tah. But that might not suit your...

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

Is this true FP? Apart from 2014 and last year, did the Tahs actually finish better than the Brumbies in many other years from say, 2011 onwards, the year the competition was expanded to 15? In that period, how many times did each of the Tahs and Brumbies play in the finals?

Of course not. But he is losing, and has lost many more than he has won. That's precisely why many call him out as an incompetent coach. The fact that he appears to have little idea (information - call it what you like) about alternative players is why he calls out as an incompetent selector...

Taliauli is playing Mitre 10 in NZ I think. Don't know about McCaffrey.

I fully expect the next coach to be fair and unbiassed. My reference there was to the lack of impartiality as exhibited by his preference for his favourites in the current coach. How many of the current front runners for lock, Rodda, LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto), Simmons, Philip and Enever, will still be around in...

I would remind you of this pessimistic assessment in a couple of years BH if only I could be bothered.;)

Excellent in the open at the U20s but had his problems at scrum time.

So, potentially a starting xv of : Wagner, McInerny, Ross, Swain, Enever, Valetini, Miller, Samu, Powell, Keunzle, Pulu, Simone, Ikitau, Wright, Banks. A few class player likely to come in for perhaps alternate games - Muirhead, Hansen, Lolesio, Lonegan x 2, Allen, Frost. Who's missing...

KOB loves his Tahs, just as I love the Brumbies. :)

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

Under a fair and impartial head coach, the Brumbies will still supply a major part of the forwards pack for the next 2 - 4 years, Sio, Fainga'a, Ala'alatoa, Slipper, Valetini, Swain and Samu will be there or thereabouts. They will also have some handy backs who will be likely to figure in...

RN it is precisely for the minor games that imo players like Banks, Powell, Valetini, Wright etc should be in the squad. These are the near future starting Wallabies and each is certainly more than capable of playing and winning against the likes of Uruguay and Georgia. There is tremendous...

    Shute Shield 2019

I don't get that people are confused over the deliberate knock on rule in relation to attempted intercepts. A knock on occurs if the ball is projected towards the opposition goal line. If it is deflected towards your own goal line it is not a knock on, deliberate or otherwise. A deliberate knock...

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

Correct me if I'm wrong FP, but wasn't AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) behind both Hunt and Foketi in the centres for the Tahs this year and generally behind Clarke and Newsome for a wing spot? In what world would a third choice player in a Super team be considered for a test spot when those rated above him are not...

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

By the reports out today, you are right about Valetini BH. But imo it is a mistake not to take him. He is clearly the best ball carrier of those in contention for the 6 spot; he jumps in the lineout, and his defense is rock solid. But beyond that, he is the next best No 8 (I don't want to see...

    Brumbies 2020

Can't mention Hockings and Blyth without including Swain in the Brumbies. They were all in the U20s together and are coming along at about the same rate. NSW got Swinton who was also with the others at U20s, but he is the small man out of that group.
