Wallabies v Fiji, 3pm Sat 10th June, AAMI Park, Melbourne

Sio Moore Ala'alatoa Arnold Coleman Timani Hooper Higginbotham Genia Foley Speight Hodge Kurindrani DHP Folau Smith Kepu Latu Tui Hannegan Powell Quade Hunt Thats what I would like to see but am sure there will be a couple of changes. If Sio is not fit then Robertson comes onto the bench...

He might not be as good there as either of the Ks but he is a decent back up if he starts on the wing or is on the bench. Im guessing he, Hodge, Hunt and TK will all be in the 23 so 13 should be well covered.

    Speight can back up 13

Yes, on top of not having KB (Kurtley Beale) for these tests it leaves us devoid of any real spark in the midfield.

We all know that the Super rugby season has been worse than poor but the hope is there that we can put together a decent 23, maybe even better than decent. Foley is the guy and Cooper is only there because the cupboard is bare. With Beale presumably involved later in the year then Cooper will...

The debutants have plenty of experience around them just not specifically Fardy. Not all experience is equal and maybe Cheika is looking for something else? Ditto for the omissions of Simmons, Douglas and Mumm.

I think we should be excited about going in a new direction and opting for an engine room with more grunt. This has been a big issue for Australian rugby for some time making it necessary to pick a back row to compensate for the lack of physicality in our locks. Our back row philosophy also...

RHP is a pretty good call actually as we do not have a 5/6 type player that would be very handy on the bench in place of Dean Mumm. Possibly Tui could slot into 6? Obviously Cheika has big raps on Dempsey.

Its a shame that KB (Kurtley Beale) is not available to give our mid field a bit more punch in attack. Other than that I can't see where we could be significantly stronger. The absence of Pocock more or less forces Cheika to go with a more traditional back row.

Surely Jono Lance would have been a better option than Godwin? Meakes as well as a development player. Surely we will see Hodge at 12 with maybe Hunt given some time there off the bench. KB (Kurtley Beale) to return for the RC. All in all a pretty good squad.

It doesn't make too much sense if we have injury problems in a couple of areas where we are looking light on, LHP and 10 to be more specific.

History should be a guide as the two shorter backrowers in the same starting side model has virtually never proven ultimately successful. They have had their moments but there is always a way to expose this approach. Timani is an OK part time jumper. That back row will be slain at the lineout. I...

Beales combination with Foley and ability to bring Folau into the game should not be underestimated.

Is that certain? If so then Hunt gets a spot. DHP is a huge loss....

I like to see one winger/fullback and the other a straight out speed merchant who knows how to find the chalk. DHP and Naivalu for mine. So hard to squeeze Hunt in there, especially to start. I expect to see him on the bench.

Agreed on Lopeti Timani and he is a good foil for Hooper and Higgs as he plays so tight. Silly suspension last week. Needs to cut that stuff out of his game.

I am not suggesting he is a god in any respect, but neither is Timani at 8. It is not a successful shape for us recently and surely our game should be tailored to the players we have. I have no problem if or where he plays but going on form he should be in the mix. He is good on the ball and...

His skills at the base are OK. Higgs is much more accomplished there and at running from there. Kieren Reid runs in the wide channels from 8. There is no reason our 8 cannot do the same. Maybe we need to think about changing how the Wallabies run their channels and their shape based on recent...

Or Timani at 6 and Higgs at 8. His skills at the base are much better.
