    Wallabies EOYT 2017

Is McMahon available for this tour? When does he start in Japan?

He was pretty good yesterday but for the most part in a Wallaby jersey was no more than adequate.

Thats the perception built on the banter here and elsewhere. Watched a replay this morning and thought he was very effective. No real "big" moments but a lot of positive involvements and no negative ones. As said, Benny McCalman also impressed. Palu had a couple of big moments as did Naisarani...

It was a good performance by Timani. Topped the tackle count while on the pitch, carried well, had some nice offloads and was effective at the breakdown. McCalman was also very good when he came on. What is the situation now for McMahon? Is he available for this tour or is he off to Japan right now?

Wallabies v All Blacks, Saturday 21st October, Suncorp, Brisbane

I agree that that is where he will end up. He may not be ready just yet. However, Folau can play there and with Hunt in the 23 it gives us a lot of options including that of another potential playmaker on the bench to cover 10-12.

Hodge and Folau can both play 13. I assume when Hunt comes back everything is covered well.

It needs to be a back up 10/12/15 really or one of those. Hunt is perfect as he can play all 3. We don't necessarily need a back up 10 as we need two props or a hooker on the bench.

Hope to see Arnold back in the 23 and preferably starting with Coleman. Sad for Rodda but he has shown that he is way from out of place at test level. He will be back. Hunt should get a bench spot in place of Kerevi as well. Stephen Moore must also be in the 23.

    Barbarians Australian Tour 2017

He did throw that pass but he is much more inclined to hang onto the pill rather than give it when he has someone open in or outside of him. Just not sure he is what we need in the midfield at test level. Very good player for sure.

    Barbarians Australian Tour 2017

He is able to to offload but notice that he does not more often than he does lately. I just do not think he is a good fit at test level for us right now. He's got skills no doubt.

TK yes, Kerevi no. Hodge is tailor made for 13. He certainly has all of the skills. Morty Mach II. Kerevi is too selfish a player and has serious, maybe insurmountable, defensive flaws. Hodges' defense is excellent and he reads the game very well.

Would not be bad to see Beale at 10 and Hodge at 13. That has to be Hodges rightful spot in the end. There is an awful lot of Mortlock in Hodge.

Australia v Argentina 7 Oct 2017 in Mendoza

Robertson has done a good job and the criticism is way off the mark. Faulkner was a step down for mine. He spilled a couple of balls that Robertson would have held on to. Scrummaging is a similar level for both - adequate.

I hate to give you the bad mail but this will be McMahons last test for the foreseeable future. If he can be persuaded to return in 2019 then he will make an excellent back row bench option. Lets not forget that the reason McMahon is leaving is because he was not made a reasonable offer by the...

Springbokke vs Wallabies @ Osfontein 30/9/2017

The best lock combination performance of the year so far was Bled II with Arnold and Simmons. Arnold really stepped up for that game

Odd decision to send Arnold back to play NRC. After the performances of Rodda and Simmons on the weekend. I would have thought it would be a good time to give Arnold another run with Coleman? Arnold is always Rodda and Simmons were adequate but every time Arnold plays he is very noticeable for...

Springbokke vs Wallabies @ Osfontein 30/9/2017

I thought he was largely ineffective at the coalface and that Hanigan contributed more when he came on. I doubt he is the answer or will play a big part for the Wallabies any time soon. The back row continues to be the problem area for Cheika.

Springbokke vs Wallabies @ Osfontein 30/9/2017

I thought he had a good game. Fronted up in defense although he missed a couple, broke the line often, carried on his good form with the boot at goal and as always played out the 80. The missed penalty kick for touch was unfortunate but forgivable. With his kicking form they should have taken...
