Wallabies v Argentina Sat 2 October CBus Stadium

In saying that I think O’Connor’s style is pretty good to bring on late in the game. As soon as he is there he starts running at the line and working runners off him. Wasn’t creating as much width but was putting pressure on the defence. His injection did coincided with the period where the...

    TRC2021 - All Blacks v Springboks, Oct 2, 2021

That’s a terrible decision. And, to be fair after having a crack at Mehrtens before he rightly calls that one out.

    TRC2021 - All Blacks v Springboks, Oct 2, 2021

A lot of irony in Merhtens complaining about the referee not penalising South Africa and essentially asking how the ref could have missed it.

Pretty certain Petaia started as a left winger, but played mostly on the right this year. Petaia was still a bit careless with the ball. He just needs to reign it in a bit. I thought Wright did pretty well and I was happy to see that. But I think one thing being overlooked in your critique is...

Hooper manages to add to his card collection and still put in a non-stop 80. He’ll probably cop a bit for bludging on the wing for the last 10 though.

Wow. Kellaway. I’ll admit 3 months ago I wouldn’t have had him in my top 6 wingers. His try rate is impressive, but equally just his ability to get the detail right.

Is that the second mail turn over Valetini has caused?

Hmmm - actually from my understanding of the rules I’m with BR on this one. I think it shows one of the problems with the rule, but he didn’t seem to wrap the right arm to me and, as I understood it, what he does with the left arm is irrelevant. Glad he didn’t - it can be a fine line but I...

Wow. Folau Fainga'a. He is awesome. What a guy. Apparently does great things for sick children and animals too.

It is an amazing achievement. And while I love Taniela’s larger than life persona I’ll always love blokes like Holmes. No carry on, no bullshit bravado or chest thumping. Just gets the job done.

No. It was canceled on protest from us Queenslanders when the management refused to include Liam Gill in the voting a few years back.

I just don’t think that is how is being looked at. From what I’ve heard from Rennie, if they are going to rest or rotate out one of these starters then Samu would be behind guys like Wilson, Swinton & McReight. But as a bench player his utility value and his style of play makes him ideal. The...

I can’t see any chance of Hooper getting rested. Hooper won’t be rested unless he actually needs it - and that seems unlikely given Hooper’s durability. Maybe against Japan, but there is no way Rennie is going to take even the slightest risk of losing this game.

On a different note, if Petaia does come in it will be interesting how he is used and what his work rate is like compared to Koroibete’s. He has so much potential, but he can be prone to sitting on his wing and not getting involved if the ball doesn’t come to him.

We seemed really easy to read. We fluffed around and fluffed around and then when we finally went up the Argies were already in front.

The problem is they don’t do stats for breakdown involvement where Rodda is doing a mountain of work and which was one of our real problems in the initial internationals. Philip does plenty of hit ups, as do Slipper, Tupou, Fainga'a & Valetini. And if you remember back to the last World Cup...

    TRC2021 - Wallabies v Pumas @ Townsville 25/09

Given the injury problems he has had it seems to me that O’Connor would be a bigger risk of not being available for the WC then Cooper at this stage.

No, I didn’t at all. Frost looks a great future prospect and could well be starting lock by the time of the World Cup, but he isn’t close to Swain’s level at the moment. We’ve started a lot of guys before they were ready over the last 5-6 years due to necessity. But Dan McKellar himself pointed...
