Wallabies v Argentina Sat 2 October CBus Stadium

I don’t really see the value of giving Frost a go here. Keep the 3 guys who are in the side. And I’d be starting Philip and Rodda - just tell Philip to cut some of the dumb stuff. Other than the penalties he has been going well. We have Salakai-Loto still in the mix longer term and if they are...

Also, I’m happy to back Rennie’s call on McMahon, but I won’t be disappointed if Leota is given a second crack. Seems a bit harsh to play him once then drop him.

I’ve been very impressed with Swain, but I wouldn’t have him in front of Philip & Rodda - although Philip needs to stop giving away careless penalties. Similiarly I like Muirhead, but I’d prefer Tom Wright.

Wallabies v Argentina Sat 2 October CBus Stadium

Wallabies with a chance to win 4 straight for the first time in 4 yrs. Argentina desperate to salvage something from this years Championship. I know there is some talk of resting some players and getting a look at McMahon, but I’d like to see minimal changes. Reward the guys who are getting the...

    TRC2021 - Wallabies v Pumas @ Townsville 25/09

A couple of other notes - - Really enjoy Dave Rennie’s press conferences. Not afraid to be forthright and honest, but always respectful - I really like the Wallabies indigenous strip - Congrats to RA for taking the games to Townsville. So happy to see them rewarded with a full crowd.

With regards to the progress of the team, how good was the in-ball from Robertson (I think) for Ikitau’s line break and for the second week in a row Angus Bell threw a great ball to create an attacking opportunity on the left. Some nice work which, along with Cooper’s kick through for Ikatau...

L Lynagh to get a cap v Japan to lock him in? :)

    TRC2021 - All Blacks v Springboks @ Townsville 25/09

Only got to watch the game this morning. I really enjoyed it. I get the criticism of the Boks style but there is something really compelling about watch two teams just slug it out. It wasn’t pretty, but they were certainly up for the physical contest. Edit: and my deepest condolences Dan.

In hindsight I agree Joe - but I have to admit when Rennie picked Cooper, even given the complete lack of depth we had at 10, I thought it was a very bold move.

    Fijian Drua 2022

I get what you are saying. But at the end of the day there are a lot of Fijians who are getting a better life for themselves and their families through league. It would be wonderful if we could give all of them the opportunity - but we can’t.

    TRC2021 - Wallabies v Boks @ Suncorp 18/09

I think it’s a reasonable observation on Tupou by Sully and it is in line with the feedback Rennie provided publicly last year. Tupou had a great game - but I want to see him smashing guys in defence a bit more. Otherwise I fear that Tupou will continue to be seen as a better bench option then...

    TRC2021 - Wallabies v Pumas @ Townsville 25/09

I used the phrase specifically because it is a phrase Rennie has used a number of times when talking about the group culture he is trying to create. I assume in this case it means Rennie isn’t giving out guarantees. I’m assuming he’ll want McMahon training the house down with the rest of the...

Haha - I appreciate you at least leaving a shade of grey, even if I’m pretty certain I know which one you were responding too. Dru wasn’t so kind. :)

Out of interest - am I the only one who thinks Tupou probably got in the shit during the game review for his one hand flick to Koroibete when he should have just passed normally? Or am i just getting that grumpy and miserable as I age?

He is a reasonable operator. Not quite as good as Pete Samu - who is actually very good IMO as a third jumper because he is very quick off the ground - but McMahon is pretty good. My recollection of McMahon was that initially he was a bit so-so, but then put in 4-5 tests in conjunction with...

I’m happy to agree to disagree. I’ll have to take your word on the second bit - but that’s certainly not the impression I’ve ever got. Certainly coaches dangle the carrot when they want a player to commit to the program, but I’ve always got the impression coaches avoid giving guarantees...

    Wallabies 2021

I understand what you are saying - but Tupou is just one example of a guy who didn’t move here until his late teens. He is certainly passionate about the jersey. There is no need for us to go completely mercenary - but Michael Lynagh has said for years his kids have a strong bond with their...

    TRC2021 - Wallabies v Pumas @ Townsville 25/09

I agree that players within the squad need to earn their jersey and convince Rennie he doesn’t need to look outside for options. The ‘fairness’ on the system is that guys in the squad are getting the chance day-by-day to prove their worth. What I don’t really get though is the view expressed by...
