The run home: the comp gets serious

They'll find a new way to either miss top spot (to the Bulls most likely) or lose some very winnable games to miss the semis. They always do. And people like to call the All blacks chokers .... :fishing

Tom Carter - love him, loath him or something in between?

I think TC is a solid player that every team needs, does the grunt work that a lot of the so-called superstars shirk as it may mess up their hair. Every team needs one or two of them if they are to be successful.

    More pressing concerns...

We have a similar problem on the Central Coast as what happens in Sydney. We have 1 dominant club (Avoca have won the past 5 comps) and 3 other teams who make the finals every year (Gosford, Terrigal and Kariong). As a supporter of a club who is in a constant battle for existence I both hate and...

    Waratahs v Blues. Sydney.

Great to see the 'tahs didn't need to rely on Waugh to close out a tight game. Some excellent defence and reading of the play in the last 10 minutes sure did save their collective behinds.

    Team versus Cheetahs

Why? He has already signed on for the Brumbies. The 'tahs would be better off giving Paddy Ryan game-time if it is for development purposes.

    Hooray for Hickey & Friend

Does anyone know if losing teams get bonus points in the Top14? I know teams get a bonus point only if they score four more tries than their opponents, rather than for just scoring 4. Pocock has only come on the international scene in the last 12 months and Waugh was getting plenty of time off...

    16. Pato Noriega (Gungahlin) The general or son of the general?

    Link to Australia?

No offense to Link as I am happy with the job he is doing but he has only been there for 5 months (?) and had a great foundation laid by Phil Mooney. It would have been interesting to see if the team had performed any differently if Mooney had remained in charge. I'd like to see Link remain at...

The playing rugby in 2010 thread.

At least he is not playing flyhalf anymore. Would have thought he would be a permanent fixture in the front row by now, put his mouth to some good use with a bit of sledging....

The playing rugby in 2010 thread.

Think they are in Div 5 in Sydney so you will get the chance to meet NTA. Last time I played against them they were coached by Tony Daly (don't think he is there now).

    Australian Team of Round 5

1 Alexander 2 TPN 3 Weekes (thought he had a magnificent game - highly invovled and some nice touches) 4 Humphries 5 Douglas 6 Dennis 7 Smith 8 Leroy 9 Genia 10 Quade 11 Mitchell 12 Barnes 13 Ioane 14 Morahan 15 Hynes (I liked his involvement off the ball)

    Waratahs vs Lions. Sydney.

If you are referring to my post Gambler I didn't include the uni coaches as they seem to change them frequently. If Rob Egerton were to come out of retirement I'd be happy to see him get the nod, or Bill Millard or even Ross Reynolds.

    Waratahs vs Lions. Sydney.

But was he the best coach in Sydney club rugby though? He inherited a great side from John McKee which had one its first premiership the year before and his Eastwood side were no longer title contenders after a host of players had moved on over a period of 5 years. A good coach would have...

    The Hickey should stay thread

What a magnificently stoic win from the 'tahs. Rugby at its finest. Hopefully L'estrange will extend Hickeys contract for another 3 years with the way he has turned the team around after the Stormers debacle.

    Pecking order: Hooker

    1. Moore 2. TPN Daylight 3. Fainga'a 4. Fitzpatrick Daylight 5. Hardman I haven't included Freir as he hasn't played this year and I am not sure of when he will be back from injury.

    Bulls vs Waratahs

While they are discussing that can someone explain why the refs let the guy at the back lift his head up to look at the defence or have his whole body disengaged with just his forearm resting on the blokes in front while the maul moves forward?

    Waratahs vs Sharks. Sydney.

Re: Waratahs vs Fush 'n Chups How can the bloke be considered resilient when he seems to miss a lot of matches (mainly tests) through injury?

    The Hickey should stay thread

After the magnificent performance against the Bulls there is no way that Hickey should go now. When the 'tahs beat the Guppies this week they should give him a two year extension on his contract.

    Butch James back !

I first read that as Brock James is back! and was wondering who (besides maybe Bruce) would be getting excited about that. Butch is a good player, not sure about his age though and if his body holds up will add to the Stormers in next years competition.
